My friend is having a hard time getting a job. She is 31 and she is moving to Zurich with her fiancé (he is Swiss) this November 2014. Thing is she is unemployed, no money and needs a job to save up until November. She currently lives with her parents, so she pays no rent, outside of D.C. (She moved back home to save up for Europe until November arrives) She has been applying for jobs, retail mostly and hotel receptionist not food service she dislikes working at restaurants.

She has had 5 interviews but no call backs. She thinks its because they can see that she only wants a job for money, not to enhance her career in fashion or hospitality. My question is can hiring managers tell when a person will just use a job then leave for better things? She has experience in retail, she worked for Macy's for 3 years as an undergrad and worked for some coffee shops several years ago. I don't know what to tell her. She is professional, educated and pleasant. But I wonder if she doesn't get jobs like this because they think she will leave in a few months! Or maybe she has bad luck! Also another thing to add is that most of these interviews are group interviews.
Any advice?
BTW she hasn't told hiring managers she is moving to Switzerland. Or should she?

She should leave her degree off the resume.

And Monday morning, she needs to contact several temp agencies. They will place her in temp jobs.

And get over the "dislike" of working in food service. Some of the best money to be made is in there, and you're only talking about 9 months. Time for your "friend" to put on the grown-up pants and do something.

No she shouldn't tell them she's leaving. Don't even say anything about getting married, etc. LIE and pretend you want to further your career in whatever the job is you are applying to. Then work till November and put in the two weeks before leaving.

Employers don't want to hire someone who wants to leave right away. They just don't!

She should also google interview questions and answers and practice in front of a mirror until she is comfortable.
