Good job.

You don't have to tread lightly. Just keep it professional.

Maybe a sign in high school. Not a sign in the workplace.

Yep. I would have fired his butt and claimed sexual harassment.

Next time ask her about her favorite sexual position or her cup size. I'm sure she'd really appreciate it!

BTW, you nearly dug yourself a bigger hole with the "had every right to write me up" comment. You should have apologized by saying "it probably came out wrong and I'm sorry if you were offended" and left it at that.

Creepy, weird, inappropriate and most likely incorrect.

It CAN mean flirting but it can also mean distress, discomfort, nervousness, anxiousness, or simply someone who plays with their hair for no reason.

Just because you've studied something doesn't make you an expert. I would say that you were out of line if you don't have a super friendly relationship with your boss. Think twice before being verbally incontinent in the future. You could wind up in HR explaining yourself to someone with no sense of humor.

If you have to ask if something you said at work was "out of line"....

It probably was.
