OP, I know you're probably sick to death of all the comments especially after you say you've apologized to her but perhaps you should have just said something like "By the way, about my comment yesterday, sorry if I was out of line, sometimes I need to think before I speak. I'm working on it." Don't mention it again and just do your job without making any personal remarks at all to your supervisor.

It was out of line. Keep making inappropriate comments like that and you may find yourself flipping burgers or salting fries. Just sayin...........

It probably was.
Yep agree totally, and I think OP knows that too, IMO.

Wrong. Just mindful of sexual harassment, and not tolerant of ignorant people like the OP, who yes, should have been fired..immediately.

I am a nervous hair twirler and I cannot express how mortified and enraged I would be if anyone in the workplace made such an accusation against me. OP, you really need to think about how your words are likely to affect your listeners before you speak!

It will be a long time before your boss will able to speak with you without embarrassment.

My hunch is boss will tell H/R, and 1st time OP makes minor mistake, OP is fired.

Nothing says you cannot go by the book..with no allowances at all..for one individual.

I did say that. I guess I'm just lucky 'cause she thought little of it. She did also mention that as I'm one of the "elder" (top seniority) people I should watch how I say things. And she's right.

I twirl my hair all the time! I can be in a room full of 100 people. I can be alone. I do it when I'm stressed. I do it when I'm nervous. I do it when I'm clam. I do it when I'm happy. It's a HABIT!!! I don't even know I am doing it 99% of the time. I'm twirling as I type this as a matter of fact.....does that mean I'm flirting with you? NOPE!

If you like your job, you'll learn to keep your mouth shut. Or you'll be meeting with HR before you know it.
