It should be made illegal. Nepotism/Cronyism and the absence of Meritocracy ROTS a company from the inside out in the long run. Last 2 companies have been worked have been this way and the last one resulted in closing the facility and the current, Facilities closing all over the country, employee disengagement at an all time high, turnover rate through the roof. This never happened with the company before.

Nepotism not only cause worker disengagement, it almost GUARANTEES That the company will be horribly managed and all the wrong decisions will be made that affect business and either:

A. Company closes own
B. Someone makes the necessary changes at the top to get the company back on track.

Never seen a damn thing good come of nepotism/cronyism..

If I ran a company and saw qualified employees being overlooked for promotions for relatives, friends, those hiring managers wouldn't last long.

9 times out of 10, individuals that get promoted up the chain over qualified individuals, only spells doom long term for a company.

Whether it's bad for a company or not, it is and should be their choice. Making it illegal is a drastic infringement on the rights of a business owner and serves no purpose to society in general. In fact, hiring an incompetent nephew, niece, or in-law keeps them from being on public assistance so nepotism is actually beneficial.

Idiots shouldn't have rights IMO when it comes to owning a business because you're affecting the livelihood of hundreds if not thousands of people due to idiocy

then what of the idiots that choose to work for them? Oh wait, your "idiot" owners are still smart enough to hire people who aren't capable of owning their own businesses

Yeah, lets make it illegal and when you become a C-Level executive or company founder you can never hire your own. See how that works

Its not the workers fault leaders are incompetent. Idiot leaders can cause more damage to a company han idiot workers ever could. A lot of owners were just handed a business or money to open a business. Doesn't make them qualified to run it

no, it's their fault that they choose their own work place and are miserable at it

you seem to always be unhappy with your own work conditions, yet you don't work on improving them yourself and keep waiting for someone else to do it for you

You hire the most competent and qualified for the position. (Something companies aren't doing today) and put personal friendships or Relationships with relatives to the side. Its not that difficult.

Its their fault if the economy is going well with a host of opportunities and places to work. If the country is ruin like it is now you take what you can get.
