Keep porn on their work computer...this was before smart phones so yeah, he would have had to go AAAAALLL day without his fix. But they started checking after getting sexual harassment complaints against him. At first they just took all his direct reports away while letting him keep his same pay - wow - who wouldn't just love that?! But they finally kicked him out.

A woman I worked with at a Walmart Supercenter attempted to steal a whole shopping cart full of various brands of beer. She was last seen leaving the store in handcuffs and getting a ride to the Maricopa County Jail.

Dumb vs Clever is a tough thing to distinguish.

I've busted a couple of warehouse workers who were selling parts on E-Bay/Amazon. Go get the serial numbers of what's in stock and order a part from them. Sure enough, they would adjust out inventory on a cycle count and then send me the part.

A couple of Controllers would lose it on petty cash. One guy we called the Simplification expert. He simply tossed all the receipts for petty cash and then couldn't explain the difference. Was never really sure on that one if someone was taking it from him and he was trying to put it back. Either way we didn't want him in charge of the funds.

One gal used to take Uber to/from work and charge it to the company. She kept insisting she only used it for taking out company visitors. Of course, Uber receipts have To/From and time. Not sure why the clients would go to her house first and then come back into town to get to work....or who was being entertained at Sunday 2 am.

Google has really exposed a lot of the old stories that used to work. One was let go because she was throwing a department party...in a totally disgusting dive bar across from her home and 35 miles from work...in a place that has very limited seating and no food.

I dunno...people do a lot of dumb stuff.

Friend of my late husband's was working in a plant that bottled dish detergent. Sometimes the guard at the gate would hold random checks and one day the Friend was stopped, his lunch bucket was examined and his thermos bottle was found to hold about 12 ounces of dish liquid.

According to the company, stealing is stealing and he was fired.

I work at a sports stadium and while I didn't see it, I've heard someone got fired over posting a picture with their credential on social media as well as someone who left their post to watch an event. The person watching the event turned their shirt inside out.

The horse hay person later ended up in prison when he started his own computer business and was adding money to his account at the bank he was working in when the employees allowed him to keep working while they went to lunch.
Call me naive, but what's wrong with the employment verification for a purchase? Was the insinuation that he was going to the furniture store on company time when he should have been or was scheduled for work?

Not a place I want to work for in the first place.

Did she break the glass, pry it open... and stole honey or did she but quarters in and paid for it.
Does your company not allow you to use vending machines? I get that if she stole from it she would be fired...but what's the deal in this case??
Not a vending machine but I know some companies now have a mini store of food that they trust you to buy yourself at the kiosk provided. Maybe that's what he is talking about.

Although this is dumb, I believe this is common. People who work at places that provide a bulk amount of certain item feel more incline to take that item. I went to my friends house and she had a ton of toilet paper. She said her husband was taking it from his job because they manufactured toilet paper or something and that they had so much no one ever noticed if he took it.

Many years ago I worked for a Seattle company that sold appliances and other large items to Alaska. A warehouse supervisor was caught stealing TVs, refrigeratoes, washers and dryers and selling them privately. After he was caught, my boss talked to him and told him to come back the next day with an attorney. That night the supervisor checked into a motel and hung himself, leaving a wife and young children without a husband/father. Sadly, my kind-hearted boss had told me that he wasnt planning on calling in the police -- he was only going to fire the supervisor.

Ok this make more sense, we have a couple of those where I work, nothing official, just the honor system, if you want chips put a quarter in the payment can. Nothing really to stop you from helping yourself to all the snacks and the money can too.
