thread is so long but I hope people made you notice GDP and quality of life are two different matters.
Let's put this way
Country A:
I make 100k a year, you make 10k a year, GDP is 60k
Country B:
I make 60k, you earn 50k, GDP is now 55k
wich of these two countries you think is likely to better in terms of jobs, safety, culture?
the best places in the world where to live is where income is more equally distributed, let's take New Zealand, Australia, Japan and the Scandinavian countries.
Also in USA the best states are those from the North like Minnesota, Wisconsin etc and not those, perhaps richer in terms of GDP but tremendously split among ethnic and social classes like California and Massachussets.
Did she really ask that? Everything is cheaper here in America, food, groceries, clothes, music EVERYTHING even taxes. Housing cost is also cheaper depending on where you live.

This topic is way too much about sterile economics, and empty obsession with economics. The amount of false stereotypes for the European economy vs. USA economy is ridiculous. What is the point with this wasteful competition? I just find this insult and attack to Europe to be unfathomable and ridiculous.

There is more economic equality in most of Europe compared to the extreme distribution of economic wealth in USA, and this includes a much lower percentage of people dealing with poverty in plenty of European countries compared to USA. The unemployment rate is lower in some regions of Europe compared to the average rate in USA. There is most definitely much more employment security in most countries of Europe compared to USA, and more comprehensive employment laws protecting people from not being fired, or laid off too easily.
There is much more average vacation time, free time, and leisure time away from employment work in European countries compared to USA. Europe is less geographically isolated compared to USA, and more opportunities for international travel. The employment might be less workaholic, more relaxing, and less stressful over there compared to USA.
The overall Quality of Life is more important than Economics, and this should have been talked about and compared more if someone wanted to talk about countries in Europe vs. USA. Based on most quality of life measures, including objective standards, some countries, regions, and cities in Europe rank better than USA. However, this is also based on subjective opinions, and personal preference simultaneously.
I overall have equal preference for Continental Europe vs. North America when I view every important characteristic imaginable, and I would never insult, say negative false stereotypes, or cause a wasteful conflict between each Continental region.
Odd op, most people on this board seem europhobic rather than europhilic to begin with.
And I doubt any Europeans would want to live in Mississippi instead of Europe, not even the Greek.
