I saw a lot of Koreans putting one of their feet on the chair while eating. I think it's quite uncouth.

Using a fork as a shovel is quite accepted now, so is cutting a potato with a knife.
I think it is improper to have the elbows on the table.

Koreans traditionally eat food from low tables with their legs folded, so it's basically force of habit for them.

Well folded is different from putting one foot on the chair ( knee touching the elbow ).

What might be acceptable in Londonderry might not be acceptble everywhere.

I was solely speaking of table manners in Germany. I doubt it that you will ever visit.

As a kid my parents used to tell me not to do that because i looked like those men you see in 'kopi tiam's' (coffee shops) in Malaysia.

I don't even notice if people do or not. And why, there's no logical reason...does the table have feelings, does it not like you putting your elbows on it? Do other people get so offended by the sight of your elbows they lose their appetite?

I got 8 out of 11. I actually had to think long and hard about the question from my own country (Canada), but eventually got it right.

It was about Inuit dining culture, and I live pretty far from the Inuit territory. In fact, I think I might be actually closer to Florida than Nunavut.

There are many times I will eat using both the knife and fork (European method) with some meals...
it's sometimes easier.
Here's an explanation and the history of the switch method. A bit long but interesting.

Call me conservative, but if I'm having lunch with a potential business partner and that person doesn't even know how to properly use his knife/fork (American/European way aside) or how to behave at the table, I'd definitely be biased during negotiations with this very same person.
