Least popular: Winter sports of any kind. Since we're really bad at winter sports, I can guarantee very few here will pay attention to the Winter Olympics, but I guess smaller countries need to succeed too. Roll on Rio 2016.
Famous because (I think) he was the only Englishman to EVER compete in a ski jump? Came last by miles I believe, we don't do 'winter sports' in the UK because we don't get much snow, even in the mountains of Scotland its a bit hit and miss, I'm not sure but I can't even remember if they televise the Winter Olympics here?
Football (American style of course) -any sort, from high school to NFL! One of my favorite things to do is go to our local Buffalo Wild Wings with a group of friends and watch the Saints or the Cowboys on the weekend. The place is loud and raucous and exactly how I like things! During the fall and winter, whole weekends will often be consumed with football - high school games on Friday night (love me some high school football!), then college games on Saturday, and NFL games (usually with friends getting together) on Sundays.
I think in the UK the top three is football, football followed by football then followed by Rugby and then perhaps cricket and F1. No other sports get much of a look in apart from tennis during Wimbledon and perhaps golf during the Open Championship.
I need to add something about American sports, here in Texas anyway.
I see a big increase in the interest in soccer. A lot of that has to do with the prevalence of Hispanic culture around here, and that culture has brought a lot of soccer teams into the area. But I see a lot more school soccer teams and just teams in general as well, and more interest in the World Cup.
"Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole!"
