USA and China seem to be the runaway winners on this one! No other continent-sized countries occupy such a position geographically...
If you are merely comparing ConUs versus China, China wins! If you are comparing the USA incl Alaska and Hawaii versus China, then USA wins!
I think this is just regurgitated info. There are continental sized countries that lack diversity and the USA outside of the Western states is one of them. You do know Mt. Pulag is higher than anything in the entire Southern, Midwestern and Eastern Seaboard states put together? The Philippines which is less than twice the size of Florida and with no main mountain chain has 5 peaks higher than anything in that huge US landmass. The only features truly worth of note here are the Great lakes + Niagara & New Hampshire's forests.... Virginia & environs forests at a push.
I think China has this one even with Hawaii and Alaska.

Cheers . The Colombain Massif is important because it's where the Andes are forced apart into 3 ranges and it's a birthplace of 3 of the top 100 longest rivers in the world, including the source of the mighty Amazon river on the Colombian side. The other 2 rivers flow into the Caribbean carving out the valley between the ranges from south to north and a 4th river flows into the Pacific ocean which together with the Loa river in Chile are the longest rivers in continental South America's Pacific.
It's the epicentre of Colombia's hydrology, a country that only ranks behind Brazil, Russia, USA, Canada and China (nearly matching China!) and above the entire EU and India in fresh water. The highest concentration per sq km in the world.

Probably. Colombia is more impressive though considering its size.
Aside from the fact its at the cross roads of 5 global iconic geographical bodies; Colombia's main advantage is that in almost every city, town or village you're around the corner from a natural marvel. In Colombia mother nature is king and you're constantly reminded of it no matter if you're in the middle of an urban setting. If you want to pack for Colombia one tip is to go to your wardrobe and just chuck everything in! You can experience all types of climates within a few hours of each other. That to me is the main difference.

Sure, if you remove the Western states, the United States is less diverse. And if you remove every part of the United States except for my back yard, it's even less diverse still. But so what? The question was about the geographic diversity of the entire country. In the case of the United States, that incorporates 48 states bounded by Canada to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Mexico to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west; plus Alaska and Hawaii.
