US: I don't know what the stats are, but right now, Chicago's murder rate's really high. Or maybe the media's hyping it out of proportion.

Canada: Winnipeg, per capita.

Mexico: Acapulco has the highest murder rate, which surprises me. Juarez must be close behind.

France: Marseille. Most dangerous city in Europe, isn't it?

Brazil has highest absolute numbers of murders in the world and the highest number of cities in world's ranking of most violent cities.

Among the more than 5,500 Brazilian municipalities, the city of Simões Filho, Bahia, is the one that leads the most violent country ranking. Between 2010 and 2012, the city added 126 violent deaths for every 100 thousand inhabitants.

It is noteworthy that Bahia (the state is governed by the same party of the president Dilma Rouseff), concentrates the largest number of cities among 250 listed here- 16% os them located in the state - which represents more than 10,400 homicides.

In absolute numbers, however, Salvador (BA) is the one with the largest number of registered cases. In three years, 4,300 people died - 53.2 deaths per 100 thousand.

The map information Violence in 2015 show that in this period, more than 112,000 people were murdered in Brazil.

Just wanted to mention that Chicago's murder rate is really not that high. It never makes the top 10 "worst" cities list for crime anymore. It is media hype.

Not sure about other countries but in the US usually smaller, poorer cities have the worst crime statistics like Flint, MI or Camden, NJ.

Of the larger cities, Detroit, mentioned earlier is dangerous but not as dangerous as it used to be. I'd say the most dangerous US cities are St. Louis, MO and Baltimore, MD

There isn't really one. People always say that Taichung is dangerous and the hot bed for gangs but after living there for years it honestly doesn't feel any different than any other towns.

No one knows the most dangerous city in Nigeria but right now it is probably Maiduguri. Boko Haram makes Maiduguri stand out from most Nigerian cities when it comes to murder rate. My home city of Port Harcourt is also dangerous by Nigerian standards same with Worri. Maiduguri

In America Detroit and Chicago are the classic punching bags but Saint Louis and Baltimore actually had the highest rates among large cities along with New Orleans. Saint Louis
