The Guardian recently ran three articles, one in relation to someone who loves cities due to the diversity, freedom, tolerance and even edgeness, the second was from someone who lived in the city but found everything to be too much in your face with people always demanding things coupled with pollution and he therefore hated the city. This Author contrasted his City experience with his time spent in the solitude of the Countryside in France and Scotland which he much missed.

How do you feel, do you prefer the solitude of nature or do you miss the culture and buzz of the city.

Tolerant, generous – and a little bit lawless. Why I love living in cities - The Guardian

Dirty, dull – and hardly any free toilets. Why I hate living in cities - The Guardian

The joys of solitude - The Guardian

I personally like both, however in terms of Cities I think it's important to be able to escape from the excesses and stress of urban living, whether this is in the solitude of a park or green space, a library or some other quiet enclave which may be anything from a quiet pint in a pub to somewhere peaceful to walk and reflect, even old churches and museums can be places of sanctuary from the urban hustle.

I think many Libraries must be preserved (despite the rise of new technology) and cities should become ever more liveable with less pollution, more planned green space and trees and more places of sanctuary, contemplation and reflection.

I love it. Never lived in the country though. I have lived in the suburbs and hated it, so I imagine the country life would not be for me

City life for convince, vibrancy, entertainment, adventures, ....

Countryside is for vacation, relaxation, and different kind of adventures.

In general, the country also seems to me to be where you would experience less crime, cleaner air and water, and friendlier neighbors.

I like both urban and rural areas but after living in three large cities I wish I could move permanently to a quieter calmer place.
I completely agree with what you wrote, urban areas can drag someone down with the excessive noise and traffic as well as massive crowds.

The countryside is nice to visit for a weekend or so, but moving there would be awful. I'm not a country person at all.

I'm a country mouse through and through, but cities are cool.

People don't seem much different between the two.

I can appreciate both urban and rural. What I personally don't like is suburbia.

See city life is too hectic for me. Country life is too slow and boring to me as well.

Suburban is just right :-)
