Ukraine, Moldova, Serbia, Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia... these countries should be wealthier. Small (meaning it's easier to build infrastructures for the benefit of the whole population), homogeneous, relatively well educated population, good geographic location, yet they have a similar GDP per capita to my country, Colombia, which is a non-country with very diverse population, huge inequalities, complicated geography, violence, very flawed education system etc.

Colonialism and low birth rate. Europe went there first, now some from former sacked countries are being given "reparations" through low end jobs to support growth. This becomes more pertinent with low birth rate and an entitled working class that's either lowly productive or would prefer to live on the benefit system than to work.

That basically means that all countries in the Americas are non-countries with perhaps (and its a big perhaps), the exception of Canada. At least traditionally and even then you have to take into account the First nation people many of whom also fled from their traditional lands in what is now the United States and the Anglo/Franco divide.

In Colombia its just exacerbated due to geography, one of the most complicated nation boundaries to traverse and connect on the planet.

Most humans need a kick up the backside to be productive.

I'd go with "it's complex", look at Venezuela vs UAE. No correlation between resources, motivation and so on but I totally see your point still.

it was on purpose, because these countries are noticeably richer than the ones I mentioned. Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary too.

Brazil
Giant country loaded with natural resources And a relatively peaceful history.

How is it possible that is not There with The USA....

Places like Colombia I can understand it, Colombia Was colonised like South Africa, a place Invented by European colonialism, with huge inequalities, A system that benefited always the white Colombians atthe detriment of Black, mixed race, and indigenous Colombians. Brazil was colonised more like Canada or the USA.

Because of its history Columbia had a Civil War Between the social classes that lasted 60 years, Colombia is starting to come out ofit. Brazil never had any form of social conflict.

Add to that, the fact that Columbia has a hostile geography of deep rainforests and enormous mountain ranges Making it extra hard to develop infrastructure. Colombias population lives on top of mountains, and Isolated towns... Brazilian population sits on the coast with iflat Saravanas and Rolling hills.

I don't understand it's giant, Never had to go to war to become independent, Never had a civil war, While it has rainforests in an uninhabited part of the country, t has an easy geography that allows it to build infrastructure... And yet it cannot leave its developing country status.

Luxembourg sits in the middle of Germany France and the Benelux.

It is a tiny country with a tiny population, Sitting right in the middle of the worlds largest economies And industrial sectors.

It would be embarrassing if Luxembourg was not rich.
