LOL. Most ignorant post of the year. Canada was NOT modelled after the US. Influenced, yes but not modelled.
If it were, we wouldn't have a totally different system of government. We would have the same " right to bear arm" silliness, we wouldn't have universal healthcare, we wouldn't have paid maternity leave, we wouldn't have mandatory vacation laws, we wouldn't have a much higher percentage of people who are considered " liberal ". Quebec wouldn't exist in it's current state…

There are many things we do have in common, but they are more superficial things like US pop culture, dress etc.

When it comes to politics, Canadians on a whole, are nothing like Americans. For example, someone with the views you share here would be a rare bird indeed, with many thinking you bonkers.

They also sound less open minded.

US can't be a free country cause I can't legally drink a beer outside on the street. Some people have even gotten ticketed for drinking on their own porch!

No. There are other problems with the US that we have yet to discuss.

Now that's some twisted logic. Canadians are very opened minded. Being open minded doesn't mean you have to accept everyone's view as logical or even feasible. It' means being open to ideas that make sense.

In the case of gun control, the US doesn't make sense. It isn't working. Not looking at alternatives and insulting countries that have gun control ( as in Repubs statement about Europeans knowing nothing about guns ) as possible role models, is being very closed minded.

He probably said that because of the random personal attacks and misinformation about the US culture and guns.

When they say "children", they probably include all the hoodlums that were killed while trying to murder, rob and rape people. It includes poor, defenseless "children" like Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown
