A WHISPER IN THE WIND
She hears her name spoken softly in the dark
Sweeter then the sound of a meadowlark
Turning around to find him, searching for his face
In that lonely empty space
It’s just a whisper in the wind
Her heart beats like the pounding of a drum
Tears fill her dark eyes, she is overcome
She begins to tremble and falls to her knees
Listens for a sound on the breeze
A single whisper in the wind
In reality she knows he was never here
She closes her eyes, tries to draw him near
Wills her heart from her body into the night
He shines for her like a blinding light
She’s just a whisper in the wind
In her mind she finds him, two hearts join as one
If only for a while they lay out in the sun
Joyful in the joining like a soft melody
Love lifts them up, sets them free
Like a gentle whisper in the wind
She feels the pull as her body calls her heart
Time and distance pulling them apart
Holding on, she can’t let go
Of love and joy she’s come to know
Nothing but a whisper in the wind
Soon she loses sight of him in a distant mist
A fading memory, a feeling, a kiss
Drifting away, her vision becomes dim
With a lonely tear, calls out to him
Sends a whisper in the wind
Ok, next?
The lovely lady that initiated this thread is no longer among us. Sadly, she passed away this past April 23rd. northcountrygirl was one of my first friends here at CDF and encouraged me to contribute what little talent that I have to 'her' thread. Please, as you read this, take time to remember her and her thoughtful poetry with prayers for her soul. She was indeed a sweet, caring and special lady. I will miss her tremendously. That is all I have to say.
