Minuet

Our grocery store sells small bouquets of flowers called "minuets," a play on the original meaning of the word. Such a cute word for the flowers.

One sentence/simile (from To Kill a Mockingbird) crosses my mind now and then: "His voice was like the winter wind."

It has been fun reading some of this thread for the first time today.

Long ago, I read the novel Addie Pray. In it was a line that said "we were as conspicuous as two turds in a punchbowl". That had to be fifty years ago, at least.

Never met anyone else who read this book, but part of it was made into a movie called Paper Moon with Ryan and Tatum O'Neal. The best part of the book, a long con with Addie pretending to be the long-lost grandchild of a wealthy old woman, was left out of the movie.

March forth!!

As in the imperative.. also as in today's date.. I heard on the radio a few days ago that March 4th is the only date that is an imperative sentence.

Now that is cool.
