"Between every two pine trees there is a door leading to a new way of life.” - John Muir
I like this.
In the county park where I walk, there are eight pine trees in two rows of four next to the tennis courts near the parking lot. I go off the paved walkway at the end and walk to my car between those eight pine trees and inhale the wonderful scent as I do.
These regional expressions are still my favorites though falling out of use:
cattywampus (means askew)
Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit (an expression of being astonished at the improbable)
happy as a dead pig in the sunshine (means blissfully ignorant)
Staycation
Kama'ainacation (Hawaii resident visiting another island)
Wound Vac-ation (taking a break from the annoying medical device)
