Tuckered out

First appeared in the early 1800s; originated in New England. It might come from the Old English word tuck, meaning tormented. Used to describe significant exhaustion.

Reminded of this today while taking my poor old dog on a three mile walk. At points we stopped to rest, bc I could tell she was plumb tuckered out.
