This is on a real estate firm's internet page:
"With over 25 years experience in the local real estate market we will use our knowledge and skills to help you achieve your goals. Whether your buying, selling, building a new home, or investing, or need rental property management, you can rest assured you are working with the best of the best."

I know someone who says that and it strikes me as really odd. I wonder if they have never even seen the written word. Oldtimer's????? Doesn't even sound like the actual word except for the "ers" part and that they are both three syllables.
Since you think the substandard words noted in this thread are proper, I suspect you think the same for irregardless.
I just think that words that are older than many people here and in the dictionary are proper.
Kinda like whining about something 40 years in the past. Shrug...
I mean, we could just note that the entirety of the American version of English is incorrect when compared to proper English.
Or how all English is just corrupted Middle English. Or how English is just bastardized German with a few stolen and oft misused words from some romance languages.

Just kind of silly...
You came in and wrote all that you wrote and you now say what you said is all so silly. You're right. Your posts were silly. If you wish to sound like an ignoramus, have at it. If you use the words you say are proper and correct, that's exactly what you will sound like. Dumb and ignorant.
Here's one that frequently bugs me. When people say or write, "9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning" or something similar. If you say "a.m." or "p.m.," it's redundant to follow it by adding "morning" or "evening." I saw similar misuses in several newspaper articles today.
Another one is "traveling westbound." You're either traveling west or you're westbound.
