If you fawn over the waitress, you won't have to pay.

Today, I heard a radio commercial for back problems and treatment. The man clearly stating "Spinal Stenosis" as if the first 4 letters were pronounced spin... as in take a car for a spin; the washing machine will spin...

That commercial may have been produced by the same dolts who did a commercial awhile back for a product that purported to help alleviate the symptoms of Tinnitus (ringing in the ears). Unfortunately, the narrator of this radio commercial pronounced the condition as, "Tin-eye-tus".

If company manufacturing this nostrum doesn't even care about the pronunciation of the name of the medical problem, what is the probability that their, "cure", will be effective?

From About Tinnitus | American Tinnitus Association

TINNITUS is pronounced either ti-NIGHT-us or TIN-i-tus. Both pronunciations are correct; the American Tinnitus Association uses ti-NIGHT-us. The word is of Latin origin, meaning "to ring or tinkle like a bell."

That is very helpful.
Now I have to figure out a way to tell all of the MDs and Nurse Practitioners whom I know that they don't need to restrict themselves to saying, TIN-i-tus.

I'm sure that they will be relieved.

Or not...
