Again, sorry to sound like such an armature here, I have never owned a tablet before.
Perhaps he was just telling everyone that he has a magnetic personality.
However, I have to add that, if his medicine cabinet ever contained a bottle of aspirin, or Tylenol, or Ibuprofen, then he has owned tablets previously.
Those bottles may not have held silicon chips, but...they did contain tablets.
