I see what you did there.

"Just sayin" is a nonsense cliche, without question. When I see it I often ask the poster "Before 'just sayin' became popular, how did you let people know you'd just said something? Did your words simply go unnoticed?"

It's a catchy little phrase so apt at certain times. Just sayin... My blood hasn't boiled since I had an argument with my mother-in-law from Hell many years ago and I think that's probably where she is.

Apparently Loose Cannon didn't. Or didn't get back to the forum in time to edit his post.

Talking about pigs in a blanket:

"Unfortunately, those little sausages are choc-full of fat and salt, and so they're very ."

The "choc" is interesting, but the "so they're very ." is even better and I think I will use some time!

From the NJ Forum:

I am in the process of buying a single house which is built on a concrete slap.

Hmmmm...I guess that if I was in the market for housing that came with a slap, I would only want a single house rather than two of them. Why put yourself in line for multiple slaps?

Everything is epic. My omelette is epic. That dog is epic. That fail is epic.

What happens when something is actually epic?

Well I was bursting at the seams Wednesday! I was in a company mandated safety meeting and the safety officer...a director, I believe, presented a slide show. His slides had horrible spelling and grammar. Insure in place of ensure, hear in place of here, breaks in place of brakes and license spelled licence...There were others too.

It may be petty of me, but I have trouble taking a person seriously when they can't even proof their work.

I think just sayin' is overused by some people, but it is not nonsense, it can be a useful rhetorical device to distance the speaker's attachment to their statement. Some statements or responses can be perceived as adversative to the listener. By using the device just sayin', the speaker can make a point without creating a sense of attack or insult on the listener. Just sayin'.

I disagree. The usage of this phrase is from "comedy" programs on "comedy" central and I do not find it useful at all.

I was just reading the headline of a Yahoo newsblog and it ended with the phrase, "or something". I will not read the article.
