When I was in high school, it was not permissible to ask, "Does spelling count?" It was taken for granted that it did--and you weren't going to be able to hand in that book report loaded with spelling errors. Those days are gone, and that is something I can't take anymore.

Boy, do I remember that. Took a history test that I knew I aced, came back with a 98% and in big red letters: Spelling counts!

Not anymore.

You got off lucky. It's still an A. I had a class that three misspelled words got you an F. Of course, it was a college freshman English composition class.

"get the boy that he wants to take ! he is just 9 years old ..... just follow his innocent"

This is from a first time poster.

In response to posts about a boy wanting a doll and stroller for Christmas.

Don't people proofread?

It's as bad , as the ones , who throw commas into the sentences , for no reason , and insert a space , in front of , them besides .

Apparently not. It's almost unbelievable how illiterate our young people are these days. It makes me sad.

Extra spaces are terribly annoying. One poster in Other Topics writes a lot of questions and always leaves a space between the end of the sentence and the question mark. Why does she do that ?
