There's a local pizzeria that makes great food, but they're guilty of multiple counts of quotation mark abuse. Here's what the sign above the counter says:

Quote:
"Our pizzas are made with "pride" and we take "pride" in guaranteeing your satisfaction.

-- (name withheld), Owner, and (name withheld), Founder
Not only do they use double-quotes for emphasis, twice, but the sign starts with a double-quote all by itself, with no closing double-quote to be found. I'm glad I didn't see this sign until after I'd eaten.

The pizza was really good though. When we go back I'll just have to sit facing away from the sign.

Sounds like it was "Grate Pizza".

Hey, I like that; possibly a good name for a pizza parlor.

Not to get too far off topic, but there's a place here in Brooklyn called Prince of Pizza.

If I had a pizzeria in Warren, Ohio, I'd call my place "Tolstoy's Warren Pizza"?

Their spelling was flawless, on signs and menus; it was just the punctuation that bothered me. Their takeout pizza boxes say:

Quote:
Hand-thrown "pizza with pride"
which doesn't bother me as much.

I cut grass all during college at a place called Church Cematary.

Tried to tell them, still spelled that way.

I'm not making this up, this really happened. We were setting out on a family cookout, and I told my little sister-on-law to go to the basement, and bring up a bag of coals for the grill, and toss it in the car. On a previous trip we had collected a bunch of black walnuts, and carried them home in a shopping bag from Kohl's department store. And now, you can guess the rest of the story.

She said she even glanced inside the bag, to make sure.
