Description: The 3rd Street Bike Boulevard is an east–west connector route that provides bicycle access to and from the university and midtown areas. It includes special arterial street crossings, traffic calming devices, and other bicyclist-friendly enhancements. West of campus, the bikeway continues along University Avenue through Main Gate Square shopping district to the 4th Avenue historic shopping district in downtown Tucson.

64. Tucson Diversion Channel Bike Path

Description: At the present time these 2 bikeways are separate paths, but plans to link them are in the works. One part, which is only 1 mile long, offers beautiful desert scenery and interesting artwork along the way. The other part, which stretches for 3 miles, borders a city park and Kino Memorial Hospital. There’s some up-and-down riding (on ramps) as you travel along. Sam Lena Park offers the best access and car parking from the east, although you can start at any of the overpasses along the route. Catch the western start just on the other side of I-19.

Description: Fantasy Island is a mountain bike playground in southeast Tucson. It features over 16 miles of twisty singletrack in natural Sonoran Desert and was built by mountain bikers for mountain bikers. It is located off Irvington Road, just east of Harrison Road. Description: The PBAA is a national group located in Tucson. It organizes El Tour de Tucson every November as well as a number of other smaller events. The association publishes Tail Winds, a full-color, tabloid-size free newspaper, 6 times a year. It’s crammed with information and advertising and is distributed at area bike shops. PBAA is a membership-driven organization. Annual membership includes a year’s worth of Tail Winds plus discounts on any PBAA-sponsored event and many other benefits.
