Description: This 29,000-square-­foot superstore is owned by Bass Pro Shops and is stocked to the rafters with a wide assortment of fishing tackle by manufacturers such as Penn, Sage, Daiwa, Shimano, Orvis, and more. You’ll find fly-­tying materials and a huge assortment of flies here. A rod and reel repair center is on the premises. Ex Officio, Woolrich, Bimini Bay, Sportif, Tarponwear, and Columbia fishing clothes for both men and women are just a few of the many brands offered. The facility also features a full-­service marina accommodating boats up to 42 feet in length. Many of the area guides launch from these facilities. The marina also offers a fuel dock as well as frozen, live, and fresh bait.

Description: Rainbow Reef, with 2 locations, offers extensive dives to coral and artificial reefs, ledges, walls, and centuries-­old wrecks. Oh, and don’t forget the fish! Depths range from 18 to 120 feet, with each dive site offering its own unique qualities. The charters hit all the spectacular spots from Pennekamp State Park down to Alligator Reef. Rainbow Reef has small (12 persons max) boats to help make your dive personal and pleasurable. They are a full-­service PADI 5-Star Gold Palm Instructor Center. See you beneath the sea!

Description: At low tide, tiny Anne’s Beach holds enough sand to accommodate several blankets, but it attracts sun worshipers by the dozens. Swimming waters are shallow. A wooden boardwalk meanders for about 0.3 mile along the water, through the mangroves, and 5 picnic pavilions jut out from the boardwalk. Parking is limited. To find Anne’s Beach, slow down along the Overseas Highway southwest of Caloosa Cove Resort and look toward the ocean for 2 small parking lots. The boardwalk connects the lots. Blink and you’ll miss it. There is no charge.

Description: Featured on the front page of USA Today after Hurricane Wilma flooded this part of US 1, Sea Oats Beach has now been refurbished to the tune of $5.4 million. This long stretch of beach offers a full mile of open water with grass flats for wade fishing for bonefish and tarpon. It is not unusual for a flats skiff to go poling by or to see folks just hanging out on the beautiful white sand with the sea oats blowing in the Atlantic breeze.

Description: To see a 1983 Cadillac stretch limousine on the sea is a trip—literally. Giving the boat its shape is a wood-­rib frame mounted on a 23-foot Carolina skiff, powered by a 100-hp engine. After the fiberglass covering was installed, the details brought the boat to life. Salvaged from a discarded Cadillac, the dashboard, mirrors, and grill are authentic. To complete the look, the NautiLimo was generously covered in pink paint. A trip out on this one-­of-­a-kind boat lasts 2 hours and covers 9 miles of beautiful Florida Bay country. All that is missing is Elvis!
