Description: The historical society maintains and operates the Julia Wood House and the Conant House & Garden at this site, the latter offering a display of memorabilia of Katharine Lee Bates, who penned the poem “America the Beautiful.” You will also find antique glass, silver, china, Revolutionary War exhibits, and whaling memorabilia. The Julia Wood House is a Georgian-style building that is furnished as a house museum. The Conant House features displays on Falmouth’s coastal trading and whaling eras, and the Hallett Barn houses other exhibits. Both houses are on the National Register of Historic Places and are open late June to early Sept, Tues through Fri from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sat from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Historical Society also offers guided walking tours in the summer. Admission to the two museum houses is $5 for adults and free for children under 13.
