Description: Beverly’s is an Oklahoma City institution. The first Beverly’s opened as a Pancake House on May 19, 1921. Through the years, there have been locations on Lincoln, 23rd, and near Penn. Today, the Northwest Expressway location, Beverly’s Chicken in the Rough, is the only one and it is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Original founders Beverly and Rubey Osborne came up with the idea for the chicken restaurant when they were driving to California. At the time, the roads were not paved. They were eating chicken out of a bucket on the bumpy road and decided to add to their Pancake House by having an establishment called Beverly’s Chicken in the Rough. Beverly’s still makes pancakes made from scratch, but also serves its famous breaded chicken and Big Bev’s Burger. The house salad is topped with a garlicky ranch, and is made on the premises. Rolls and biscuits are made fresh daily and there are also real mashed potatoes; hand-cut, fresh French fries made from real potatoes; and salsa made from fresh ingredients.
