Description: Founded in 1926 by the Benedictine Sisters, Monte Cassino educates children from the preschool level through eighth grade. Spanish and French are introduced at the preschool level. The elementary curriculum includes traditional subjects, computers, art, music, and Spanish. Spanish, Latin, and French are available in middle school. Pre-AP classes offered in the middle school include English, social studies, pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry. The youngsters, who are required to wear uniforms, participate in daily prayers and weekly Mass.The school has an extensive sports program, including golf and tennis teams. They’re even more competitive academically, participating regularly in chess competitions, Academic Bowl, Mathcounts, the National Geographic Bee, and the National Spelling Bee.The campus is beautiful, with many large trees. Buildings include the Early Childhood Learning Center, the elementary school, middle school, chapel, monastery, and Performing Arts Center.The 2009–2010 tuition for a two-day preschool student was $3,020. For five-day students, the cost was $7,568. There are discounts for more than one student in a family, and some financial aid is available.
