Description: PTS has made an effort to provide the best in theological education and preparation for local church ministry, and its students currently represent more than 20 denominations. The school itself is affiliated with the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. The school was founded in 1907 as part of Phillips University in Enid. While the school had a second campus in Tulsa for several years, in 1997 it consolidated both facilities, choosing Tulsa as the permanent location.Academic programs offered include: a certificate in graduate theological studies; master of arts in ministry and culture, with emphases in congregational leadership, Christian education, history and practice of Christian spirituality, and theology, ethics, and culture; master of theological studies; master of divinity; and doctor of ministry. Directors of ministerial formation are provided for five groups besides Disciples of Christ. They are the Lutheran, United Methodist, Presbyterian, United Church of Christ, and Cooperative Baptist organizations. This makes it possible for students not only to receive a strong ecumenical background but also to be grounded in their own denomination’s history and church government. The seminary is located in a two buildings on a 7½-acre campus. Facilities are state of the art, and the Yetter Memorial Garden and Labyrinth is state of the heart. In addition to classrooms and offices, there is an academic/student center, chapel, and a 140,000-volume library and archives.Knowing that a number of the students are working, the seminary schedules classes to accommodate them. Most classes meet once a week, and classes are offered on weekends and in concentrated course formats. A few courses are available through a distance learning program. Tuition is $485 per credit hour. Ninety-five percent of the students receive some sort of financial aid.
