77. Haunted Battlefield At Gettysburg
City: Gettysburg, PA
Category: Tours & Attractions
Telephone: (717) 337-9216, (877) 980-1313
Address: 531 Baltimore Street (in tent at rear)
Description: This is the only attraction in town that guarantees you’ll see a ghost during the show. That’s because Haunted Battlefield puts its story about eerie sightings at the Gettysburg battlefield on a CD. An 1857 Civil War projector is used for the presentation, which also employs stereo music and sound effects. Haunted Battlefield is not a walking tour—it’s held in a tent set up during the season behind the Blue and Grey Gift Shop. The CD features Joe Kerrigan, a local Civil War–era magician, actor, and storyteller, as the narrator. Joe also runs the Haunted Gettysburg ghost walks (see separate listing below) and performs at the dinner theater at the Fairfield Inn (see The Arts chapter). Haunted Battlefield at Gettysburg is presented nightly at 8:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Seven rooms hold activities that are specially geared toward kids age three through eight, but everyone will have fun as they participate. Popular activities include standing inside a bubble made by a giant bubble machine, learning about building and assembly lines in the construction zone, and playing in an 1860s-era house and general store in the room that’s dedicated to the Battle of Gettysburg and life in the 1860s. The museum also has an educational toy store, where you can pick up something that will continue the fun of learning at home. To reach the museum, travel south 2 blocks from Lincoln Square and make a left onto High Street; the museum is on the left.
