Description: Flamingo Grill’s art deco decor—black lacquer accented with pink and blue neon—sets the pace for a trendy evening of dining. Owned by the same folks of Cagney’s fame (see this chapter’s previous entry), this restaurant has become quite popular. The menu includes lots of fresh seafood prepared in a variety of ways. The grilled fish with Cajun spices is especially tasty. Other entrees include pasta (the Pasta Flamingo is delish), chicken, prime rib, and steak. As an appetizer, the filet mignon chunks are outstanding. Save room for dessert; the Outrageous Derby Pie is, well, outrageous. A children’s menu is also available. Flamingo Grill serves dinner only. Closed Sundays.

Description: The Library is one of the most elegant restaurants in the entire South and is the only restaurant on the Grand Strand to receive both the Mobil Three Star Award as well as the AAA Three Diamond rating. Offering consummate European cuisine and superior service, this restaurant has been quietly collecting fans since 1974. In a Sun News survey, locals voted the Library the “most romantic” dining spot on the Strand—with so many restaurants, that’s a real coup! The menu includes veal, seafood, duck, beef, and chicken—first class all the way. The name comes from the literary decor, of course; the walls are lined with cases of literature that accentuate the leisurely and almost genteel atmosphere.
