Description: This beautiful structure was President Coolidge’s summer White House in 1927, when he intended to take a two-week vacation and ended up staying three months. You’re likely to enjoy it as much as Silent Cal. The charming lodge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the treasures of Custer State Park. You can stay in one of the lodge’s seven guest rooms, which come in a variety of styles and sizes and accommodate up to four people each. The Creekside Lodge which opened in 2008 features a large lobby, two meeting rooms, and over-sized guest rooms with microwaves and refrigerators. While you’re there, dine in the remodeled and expanded Game Lodge Dining Room or have a drink in the lounge. But, don’t miss the Buffalo Jeep Safari. Meeting and banquet facilities are available, too. Cabins and motel rooms are also for rent; there’s information in the Cabins and Cottages section of this chapter.
