Description: The Frontier has a band once a month all year. You might dance to rock, blues, or country, depending on the night. All told, the bar is pretty quiet, though. The Frontier offers appetizers from fried gizzards to mini-tacos, and a burgers and chicken-strips menu for those wanting a meal. Check out the rib special on Thursday, the all-you-can-eat fish on Friday, and steak night on Sunday. In addition, the Frontier hosts happy hour every weeknight. This is a spacious place with a big dance floor and the entire interior was recently remodeled.

Description: The swinging doors and the sawdust on the floor say “Old West.” The antlers, bovine skull, and cattle horns over the bar—not to mention the framed ammunition display—say “hunters’ hangout.” The saloon has a full bar and also offers pool tables. Happy hour is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Mon through Fri. Though some distance from Sturgis in the Northern Hills, the Gold Pan is a popular stop for visitors to the Sturgis Rally & Races in Aug (see the Annual Events & Festivals chapter).
