Description: The charming State Game Lodge and Resort offers cottages or motel units on its grounds. Built in 1920, the Game Lodge was used as the summer White House by President Calvin Coolidge in 1927 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Cottages range in size from one room with two double beds to the Reunion Cabin which accommodates up to 16 people. The 4,200 square foot Reunion Cabin has four bedrooms, including two with a fireplace, and a loft with bunk beds. The housekeeping cabins have kitchens or kitchenettes and fireplaces and sleep up to eight people. Sleeping cabins are smaller but all have private bathrooms. The 30-unit Creekside Lodge opened in 2008, and has a large lobby, two meeting rooms, and over-sized guest rooms with microwaves and refrigerators. If you’d prefer to stay in the lodge, you can read about it in the Resorts and Lodges section of this chapter.
