Discussed with the Person In Charge: 1. Upcoming plans to be submitted to the health department for store re-model. The health department has 30 business days to review plans once they are submitted. Contact the health department when you are ready for an application for plan review. 2. Recommend moving employee break area to be further away from food preparation. 3. Inspection was conducted due to a change of ownership. Facility is within substantial compliance with Virginia Department of Health Food Regulations, therefore permit is issued.
Equipment - Fixed Equipment, Spacing or Sealing Observation: The hand sinks throughout the facility are not sealed to adjoining equipment or walls.
Correction: Seal the unit to adjoining equipment or walls since it is exposed to spillage or seepage.
Non-Food Contact Surfaces Observation: The nonfood contact surface of the shelving throughout the facility and the holster for the can opener have an accumulation of grime and debris.
Correction: Clean the surface at a frequency necessary to preclude accumulation of soil residues that become encrusted or attract insects and rodents.
Physical Facilities in Good Repair Observation: Physical facilities throughout the establishment are not maintained in good repair. Ensure coving is sealed to the wall, ceiling tiles are put back into place, light bulbs over the pizza prep are in need of replacement, light shields are in need of replacement and the ceiling in the restroom is in need of repair.
Correction: Maintain physical facilities in good repair. Poor repair and maintenance compromises the functionality of the physical facilities.
Physical Facilities - Cleaning Frequency and Restrictions Observation: Physical facilities throughout facility are in need of a detailed cleaning.
Correction: All floors, walls, and ceilings must be cleaned as often as necessary to keep them clean. Cleaning of the physical facilities is an important measure in ensuring the protection and sanitary preparation of food. A regular cleaning schedule should be established and followed to maintain the facility in a clean and sanitary manner.
Ventilation Systems - Cleaning Ventilation Systems - Nuisance and Discharge Prohibition Observation: Vent filters in the hood system of the pizza oven are not being maintained in a clean condition.
Correction: Maintain hood system vent filters in a clean condition.
Mops - Drying Mops Observation: Mops not hung up to air dry.
Correction: Wet use maintenance items such as mops must be hung in a position that allows them to air dry so they are not allowed to grow contamination which can then be spread through the establishment at the next use.
