Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

And Sometimes, Things Aren't What You Expect

When you deal with things like ads or websites, businesses want to make sure that customers get what it advertised, and as it is. In some cases, a rosy picture gets painted, but the end result is sometimes not likewise.

Such is the case with a new eating place that I wanted to try out this evening. Every now and then, I crave a really good Philly cheesesteak sandwich. And when I see something new, I usually would take advantage and go after it. So I did. The name of the place I visited was Penn Station East Coast Subs. They're new to Texas, as they already have a number of locations out east, so this writer wanted to go to a new location in Flower Mound, Texas, to give it a try.

I ordered, paid, and out came my food. It was going to be dine-in rather than take-out, and I sat down to Penn Station's Philly cheesesteak with an order of fries and a lemonade. I ate almost the entire thing (the 12-inch Philly with onions and peppers) and got full, but I left disappointed. The reason is, the website promoted the sandwich as having a lot of meat on it, which I like. When same was brought out to me in person, well, it didn't have a lot of meat on it, but it had plenty of cheese, onions, and peppers. Might as well call it the Philly cheeseonion.

~Sigh~ Oh, well. Back to the drawing board for this gizzard. There'll be other places.

There's nothing I hate more than disappointments. Believe me, Case, there have been a number of occasions where I had gotten my hopes up that such-and-such place would be as good as they say, only to discover that it wasn't what I thought.
