Now that your unpacked and got to test drive the area for a bit, encountered some locals and yokels, and hopefully some actual people that moved to the area from your home town or state its time to list the likes you have of your new or semi-new, or heck if the area is your native home than by all means and ways list what you like! Y'all got it? Well here goes!

Weather! You like or not!
Year round flowers!
Long springs!
Longer Autumns!
Shorts year round! For the hearty ones that is.
Variety of sub divisions to chose from!
Snow is a neat event versus a ho-hum not again event!
No rust on older cars! Amazing if your from the Northeast!
Can fish year round without cutting holes in the water (ice) for us North Easterners!
Pretty country side is usually only 5 minutes or less from where you live anywhere in the triangle.
People R People. No matter what they say!
Day trip to Mountains!
Day trip to Ocean!
And in a lot cases no trip at all to the many lakes, ponds, river, and streams that spot the area!
Good food can be had by all and more is always welcome irregardless if they are called viddles or pickins!
Out away from the city lights the sky at night explodes with the many stars that fill the emptiness of space with the occasional flying star to catch a dream or two on!
Groceries can be cheaper but we all have to eat!

Sure it takes time to get use to this place, remember the place you came from was called home and that is never a easy place to replace! But give it time, explore the area and get involved and this place too will be your new home not only in name but in feeling!

May the triangle, RDU, RTP, Crossroads, the Quay, Wake Forest, Knightdale, Apex, Raleigh, Durham, Zebulon, Oxford, Mossisville, Franklinton, Youngsville, Chapel Hill, Henderson, ...seems like I am forgetting somewhere....????......Oh yea! and Cary, be with you!

Oh Tarheels! I forgot to number the above as I did say I would count thy ways!

Wake Forest, NC. located in Wake County NC. Some call it Wake's Forest of the Triangle....Ok maybe that's just me. But if you come from the North East, Wake Forest seems to fit. It has some rolling hills and many farming areas.

It has a small town feel but close to Raleigh, you could be down town Raleigh, depending on time of day in about 15 to 30 minutes. You can be at the Virginia border in less than an hour.

It has old Historical homes and some new subdivisions. It certainly worth a look see if your looking and seeing the area. It has transplants from New Jersey, New York, and many other NE State and Mid West and California and....well you get the idea people from all over this great country now calls Wake Forest home!

C'mon down, over, left, or right and check it out you may just like what you see.

Wednesday January 9, 2013 and its 44.4 degrees outside chugging on up to 55 degrees! Sun, sunny, and oh yea sunny today! Not quite Key Largo but will take it, it is January after all.

Caught some of the daylight late yesterday afternoon to get out and split some firewood. I split it the old fashion way. A sludge hammer, a chisel, and a 5 foot long chisel. Have some old well seasoned fallen oak trees to cut up and split. This work great for the bonfires. I slice pieces off the fallen tree trunk and than when I get time I split them. I will split 3 or 4 slices of the truck at a time. Its a real workout. Great stress reliever! The days trials and tribulations seems to melt away with each swing of the sludge hammer. This also helps maintain the New Years resolution to exercise more. In between log splits I take a breather and toss my Lab a ball or two to fetch. She goes ripping after that ball and tracks it down more with sound and smell than site. She makes me laugh because she as she fetches it at warp speed but returns it at a snails pace. Not sure why that is. Maybe to make the ball toss and fetch period last longer...who knows....well she knows but she's not talking!

Had to add to the bonfire pile as the Christmas Holiday bonfires sure ate into the supply. While making the supply I was able to burn up all the cardboard and wallpaper from the bathroom remodeling job over the weekend. All of it as they say went up in smoke!!!!

Quote of the day from Terry Pratchett:

“Wisdom comes from experience. Experience is often a result of lack of wisdom.”

Happy Wednesday, Happy is be not experienced in all things, and Happy to someday to feel just like the slowly fetched returned ball.

Thursday January 10, 2013 and its a mostly cloudy 47.1 degrees outside heading on up to near a completely cloudy 64 degrees. The thing to always keep in perspective on cloudy days is at about 20,000 or so feet up the sun is out as brightly as ever! So we got that going for us. Speaking of going for us....

Yesterday evening opened the laundry room door and yelled wheres the Ark! It was flooded like! My laundry room had high tide! All that was missed was the S.S. Minnow! Oh the Love Boat! What in leaking things had happened here? Man the life boats, I'm going in! Well something was seriously leaking from the washer. Hoses were good, drain pipe was dry....Drat! So off went the water, out came the plug. The Mop and rags were manned. After the water was soaked up I was able to disconnect the water lines and slide the washer out and tip to over. With flashlight in hand and a keen eye perusing the parts of the washer ones never sees I came up full! Full of nothing, could not see where the water was leaking from. So out came the 188 Piece Sears Tool kit and un assembly was required!

But the hour was getting late and the un assembly was not going as smoothly as I would have hoped. After taking out screws, hoses, connectors, bolts and nuts I still could not get the skin of the washer to come off. So I tucked the washer back into its defined spot in the laundry room like a wounded appliance that it is. TOday after work I will try again to see where in the washer world that water is coming from. The top candidates is a hose is leaking, the pump is kaput and leaking, or a seal went between the tub and the drive systems. A hose a pump...fixable will relative low cost. A seal! Well that would 'seal' my washers fate! It will be time to buy another used one...say it is not so.

In fact being one of my New Years resolution is too see the glass half full more often than empty I will say its a hose or the pump housing that is leaking........stay tuned and have buckets in hand...mattes!

Quote of the day Helen Keller:

"I seldom think about my limitations, and they never make me sad. Perhaps there is just a touch of yearning at times; but it is vague, like a breeze among flowers."

Happy Thursday and if you know anything about Ms. Keller you knew she had a few limitations yet persevered and overcame her doubts and afflictions.

Friday January 11, 2013 and its a wet 43 degrees party clearing its way up to 63 degrees today. Ifs that sweet than tomorrows projected high of 72 degrees and Sunday's high of 73 will be wonderful! Oh the weekend is almost upon us but not back to reality.....

Yesterday was day 2 of the leaking washer! Yesterday evening I got the washer out of its cover and was able to add some water to the tub to see where the water was coming from. Good news...I found the source of the leak! The bad news....I found the source of the leak. Actually, it is all good news. I called the local appliance parts storefront for the part and it was $52. Rotten tomato's that is expensive! So I let me internet connection do the looking and low and behold I found the same part for $9.99 with free shipping. So I ordered it. Comes early next week....

Now to figure out how to get to there without a washer. How I solved that one was with some two part plastic epoxy I had on the shelf in the garage. Mixed it up as its actually like using play dough and stuck it to the cracked area. Let it dry overnight and this morning 2 loads of wash were done and no leaks! Sweet! So when the new part comes next week I will install it and save the repaired part for as they say for a 'rainy day' or better said a 'leaking day'.

Next up needing repair our backpack leave blower. Just won't start and that my friends is my trigger to get started!

Quote of the day from Jeremy Taylor:

" God is pleased with no music below so much as with thanksgiving songs of relieved widows and supported orphans; or rejoicing, comforted, and thankful persons."

Happy Friday and what have you fixed lately...not all things fixed have to be material things, relationships maybe the best accomplishments of all to be fixed.

Monday January 14, 2013 and its 59.9 degrees outside heading on up to 72 degrees. It is January after all! What a beautiful weekend. Weekends go fast enough but when they are nice they seem to go by so much quicker. In the time that pasted this weekend I was able to cut the grass and spent some time working on my non functional backpack leaf blower. Cannot get it to start.

It has the necessary elements to start, air, fuel, and spark but it won't BLOW sort of speaking! So I tore it apart on Saturday and found a couple of broken bolts on the motor housing that certainly was contributing to it not working. I could not get the broken bolts out so I drilled them out and replaced them with new nuts and bolts. Cleaned it all up and I pulled and I pulled till I blew the blower down.....wait that's not it at all. I pulled and I pulled and nothing but a sore arm. I even added starting fluid to get it to 'start' and nothing....

So next I have to test the compression in the chamber. If that is not enough to compress the fuel air mixture the spark will not be able to ignite in the cylinder. In other words within the cylinder it won't go <BOOM>. Maybe the ring on the piston is worn out.....only a compression test will identify that. So, I hung the backpack blower up for another day. Hopefully I will find a nice used one till I can get this one going.

Did manage to burn a lot of the debris collected from around the yard. Burned nicely along with the cardboard I had left from the downstairs bathroom project last weekend. Nothing like capping off and nice weekend in front of a roasting fire that has six or eight logs on it just melting away in their red glow. There was plenty of stars to gaze upon and time to be thankful for. It was quiet and still warm last evening. The crickets were playing there nightly instruments, and smoke from the fire was slowly rising into the darkened night. A couple of dogs were heard barking in the distance. It was just a beautiful night...........

Quote of the day from George Washington:

"My mother was the most beautiful women I ever saw. all I am I own to my mother, I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her."

Tuesday January 15, 2013 and its a cloudy 44.4 degrees outside staying cloudy on its way to a projected high of 52 degrees. In fact the clouds will not only be present but will present us with some rain! So it one was taking roll on the clouds, they would be present and accounted for!

Update on the washer part I was waiting for to come in. Its a good news, bad news story. Good news, it came a day early. Bad news, its not the right part, its not even remotely correct. So today I will have to do as they say a 'deep dive' and see what in the soggy world of leaking pumps happened....stay tuned.

Getting the wrong part was nothing compared to the other data that came out yesterday that was sadder than sad to me.... The data came out that showed that in 2012 our young men and women in our military killed themselves at a record rate. Was not the enemy. Was not the training or the equipment. It was their loss of hope in the situation that they were assigned too. These were the future of our country, the fathers and mothers, the teachers, politicians, bankers, factory workers, police, fire, and anything else they wanted to be. All gone. That is so very sad and totally avoidable. To all those that met their young life's fate and to their families left behind I say how sorry I am.

One has to ask why? Why someone young and with so much to offer the world decides to terminate that potential. The simple answer is the lack of hope, the lack of mission, the lack of seeing an end game. Mr. President PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't wait till 2015 to being them home. Bring them home by year end 2013! Our nation cannot wait for another one of our kids to kill themselves on foreign soil. We can't afford to lose that young vibrant life.....we just can't!

Quote of the day Psalms 23:4 KJV:

"Yea, thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me."

Wednesday January 16, 2013 and its a rainy 44.2 degrees heading on up to a wet 73 degrees. Not sure it will get that high but what the hay! Its a keeper!!

Today's entry will be short due to late start as Wednesday morning off site meetings have begun for the new year! Update on the replacement washer pump. The company agreed they shipped the wrong part and will get the correct one out to me today.....hoo-ray! The patch on the old one is still holding!

The word I will leave you with today is love. Love all your encounter today and love deeply the one above that care more for you than you will ever know or realize......Thank goodness for that!

“Above all, don't lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love.”

Thursday January 17, 2013 and its wet wet wet, dropping rain wet outside and 47.7 degrees heading on up to 60 degrees. Some heavier rain is moving into the area and than the inevitable winter time weather pays us a visit. Winter storm warning for tonight into tomorrow...say it isn't so! But at this point they are saying 1 to 3 inches maybe 2 to 4 inches and accumulating in the grassy area. You have to love the winter storm warnings in the south! Up north one needed 6 or more inch accumulation project before a winter storm warning was issued. But than again in the south what is a snow plow? Something at the local ice cream shop?

But that is all tonight's and tomorrows worries. For today its work, work, work. It is also a time to reflect back to the days when I was a kid growing up in N.E. Pa and having a winter storm warning forecast flash across the screen. Oh, the anticipation, the endless snowball fights, sleigh riding, snow fort building, no school, shovel, have a blast outside....did I mention no school? What would have made it even better than better, was the fact that it would of been on a Friday so an extra long weekend! Now for a kid in my generation, that would be the equivalent of a new game console, a new cell phone app, to today's generation of kids!

I use the term very lightly when I say sleigh. Our sleigh was nothing more than a sheet of plastic or a cardboard appliance box ripped apart. They lasted us for hours upon hours or until our finger had no feeling in them. Than it was home run to the sink and place our hands under hot water so we can feel our fingers again......

Quote of the day from C.L.Lewis:

"Reality, in fact, is always something you couldn't have guessed. That's one of the reason I believe Christianity. Its a religion you could not have guessed."

Friday January 19, 2013 and its a tinge of white outside and 35.0 degrees heading up to 43 degrees with bright sun! The yellow glow will change the white tinge on the grass to green. The snow was sure pretty last evening right up to the point I had to go out and sweep it out of the satellite dish so that we college basketball game would come back on. The flakes were big and wet...and I am talking about the snow!

For the next 5 days the forecast has full sun during the day and full darkness at night! Temperature will rise into the 50's the next few days and drop down into the low 30's for a day or two next week as the high. Brrrr. The good news, the weekend is upon us. Time to get those things done you just can't get to during the week. For me, not sure. Actually in the planning stages of remodeling of the master bath. Which has morphed into repainting the master bedroom and the walk in closet. The painting part is easy, brush, roller, paint tray, and tape. The hard part picking the colors. now the master bath is a whole different ballgame. There fixtures have to be picked. Tile has to be picked and their accents. Faucets will have to be selected as well as shower head(s). Currently have one shower head but today people are going with multiple up to 9 in a shower. One gets to feel just like a car going through the car wash I suppose. Bottom line, more research is required before the demolition can begin.....other than that nothing else planned for the weekend.

Oh, I did get an interesting questioned posed to me this week. Someone asked me how I stay so upbeat and I am paraphrasing, as the exact words escape me at the moment. It kind of took me back for a second and I simply said I chose to be happy. I can chose to be sad, mad, sour, rotten, but its not me. Life is far far far to short to be negative. Its fast enough being positive I can't imagine what a bummer it is to be mad and sad all the time. What is your choice? Its up to you, you know!

Quote of the day from John Lennon:

"When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

Tuesday January 22, 2013 and its a coll crisp 30.0 degrees outside heading on up to a sunny 36 degrees. That is brisk baby! Even with the Monday off the weekend still flashed by seemingly quicker than the old flash cubes on put on their old flash cameras. One got four bright blinding flashes and it was off with that one and on to a new four flash cube. As with most things, photograph has come a long way. Now, almost all of us carry a camera and a movie camera around with us all the time. Oh if we only had those when we were kids. The records we have of that time is only in our minds. The things we got into and out of without the luxury of recording them and zipping them to the cloud somewhere for storage.

Just think back to the days as kids we had that at least in our own minds and those of our friends growing up will live in infamy that were not recorded! Oh my! One time that comes to mind is when we jump from roof to roof of some abandoned building in our neighborhood. They were two to three story building. We would get a running start on the roof of one and leap and hope for the best or at least hope to make it to the next building. The good news was we always made it. The bad news is we never recorded it. But oh it was fun! Another was when we climbed up between two building that were close together. We would rest our back on the one building while extending our legs to the other and than shimmy up and up till we reached the top. Houses in out old neighborhood were close together. In fact in some cases one houses gutter was over hung the neighbors house. Made for interesting times when the neighbors did not get along. But that is for another time!

Quote of the day by Thomas Watson:

"Whoever is afraid of submitting any question, civil or religious, to the test of free discussion, is more in love with his own opinion than the truth."

Happy Tuesday and we see the above quote in action everyday in one form or another. One of the memorable ones was the Healthcare bill passage.......

Thursday January 24, 2013 and its 40.0 out heading up to....scratch that going down to 36 degrees today for the...well not high and not low just the daily temperature and we will keep it at that! Speaking of down that is exactly what the Dukies got last night at the hands of Miami. Man like a bulldog on a pork chop!

Speaking of dogs it reminds me of a big old poodle that use to chase us walking to school. This dog had the freedom to roam the streets. He was smart too! He would let us walk by sometimes before he tore out after us. Sometimes we would just be approaching the front of the house and the dog would leap out and chase us. Sometimes we would walk one block over to avoid this dog. I never knew him to bite anyone but he would love to come right up to you with teeth out and barking up a storm of noise! There was a many a times we dove on the hood of park cars to avoid this cu-Joe! The owners were rarely seen. One of the kids that lived there was in my class and I asked him why is his dog like that and he said he was a good watch dog..... I was thinking yea but he scares the be-Jesus out of us. He would chase motorcycles that went by too! He would chase them all the way down the streets, barking his way like a fire engine siren racing to a fire....

But as we got older and big and he got older he kind of gave up chasing us. One reason was we would stand our ground and dark towards him and he would stop in his tracks and just bark. Don't know what ever happened to that dog. Whether he met his demise naturally or by a vehicle but he sure make us fully alert on most days walking past his home!!!

Quote of the day Milan Kundera:

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace.”

Friday January 25, 2012 and according to the National weather service it will be a 'Ice Pellet' day, weather Armageddon has come to the south. The lock down plans are in motion. Places are closing faster than Usain Bolt running the 100 meter dash! Bread is flying off the shelves at the local grocery store faster than bolt of lightning racing across the summer sky! Everyone going through their winter weather check lists:

    Shovel - Check!
    Scrapper - Check!
    Rock Salt - Check!
    Cell Phones charged - Check!
    Bread, Milk, eggs - Check!
Hug the love ones - Check!
Place panic meter in pocket and/or purse - Check!

Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! What shall we do....ice pellets are in the forecast. Ice pellets I tell you! Sweet artic blast!! Time to bunker down, head to a inner room with no windows. Take food, water, and battery radio or one of those radios you crank, flashlights, blankets, hats, gloves, oh my!

What a kick off to the weekend......All be safe and may your snow or Ice pellets or rain or sleet or sunshine be beautiful in its own way!

Quote of the day from Alvaro Mutis:

“Weather is a purely personal matter. There is no such thing as a climate that is cold or hot, good or bad, healthy or unhealthy. People take it upon themselves to create a fantasy in their imagination and call it weather. There's only one climate in the world, but the message that nature sends is interpreted according to strictly personal, non-transferable rules.”

Tuesday January 29, 2013 and its 50.5 degrees heading on up to 66 degrees with party sunny skies. Nice! Unlike the weekends cold weather. Yesterday was one of those days that make the normal run of the mill days feel oh so good.

It started with a dead battery, the threat of icy roadways or at least bridges so got a late start into work. The battery came to life after a shock from my others car battery. Once it was running I was off and as they saying running. Got to work to find out I was in a all day meeting, gulp. Had to also set up a fail-safe plan for when I got out of work and the car did not start I would be able to get a jump start. Oh, the day had slipped away quicker than a tick on our national debt clock!

I was fortunate when I finally got out of work and my car had started. Vroom, all the way home. Than it was a quick change and off to the endzone.....ops, AutoZone for a battery check and a new battery. Some days just don't go as planned. But any day is far better than no day at all. Today I am trying to catch up on yesterday's to-do's as today's to-do's are here too! That's a lot of do's that I have to make sure I have all the 'can' for!!!!

    Oh those Monday's!!!!

Quote of the day from Victor Hugo:

He, who every morning plans the transactions of the day, and follows that plan, carries a thread that will guide him through a labyrinth of the most busy life."

Wednesday January 30, 2013 and its 65.2 degrees rockin and rollin up to 72 degrees. Wind and thunderstorms are on our doorstep, some maybe severe so stay tuned to the radio. Getting slowly caught up from Monday's challenges.

Speaking of challenges, that is exactly what I use to routinely get into when I was doing electrical work. People always want new receptacles here and there around the homes and almost always do not want the wires visible. So there lies the challenge. How to place a receptacle or switch as close as possible to where they want it and hide the wires inside the walls. The easy part was cutting out the receptacle opening the hard part was getting a wire to it. Inside walls were easier than outside walls and second floor walls were easier than first floors.

Careful measuring and calculations were a must and still once one started to drill the hole one never really knew where it would come out. Sometimes it came out in the ceiling, ops! Sometimes out the floor, ops #2. It was never a good sign when you took the drill bit out of the hole and see light! In this rare case seeing the light as they say is not good! Being in the attic one time in the hot summer heat of an attic I was drilling done into an internal wall for a new bathroom switch. As I broke through the wood into the seemingly open space of the inner wall, I remove the drill bit and saw a eye peering up at me. It was the boss of coarse! I missed the inner wall ever so closely and drilled through the ceiling into hallway just outside of the bathroom. Drat!!!

One great thing about our boss, he was a teacher first so he would help us learn from our failures. Someone I will never forget that is for sure....

Quote of the day from Winston Churchill:

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage
    to continue that counts."

Happy Wednesday and Winston had it right, and with right comes light, and everyday I am thankful to have seen things in the light, yes I am.

Thursday January 31, 2013 and its a breezy 47.7 degrees heading up to...ops down a high of 46 degrees. We were fortunate and the potential bad storms of yesterday night had passed us by. Wheww! But, here we are the end of January and the first month of 2013 will be in the books. WOW! In case you missed that I will state it again, WOW! End of month 1 of 2013.....

Time as they say fly's or at minimum ticks by unabated. As a kid I remember hearing time waits for no man. As a kid it seemed to tick by like molasses flows outdoors in N.E. PA on January 31st......very, very, very slowly. But now it flows like a drop of water over
    Niagara Falls. That's fast baby!!

So, enjoy your January 31st and squeeze as much out of it as you can and if you can't than squeezing your kids, significant other, or your pet, or just your stuffed animals, they all count towards making the day last.

Quote of the day Emma Eaveling:

“We used numbers and rigid systems to fit time into containers we could understand.
But like Nexa said, it was immeasurable. A fluid river no logical structure could hold.
A moment could have the power of years. And years could pass in a moment.
The only thing that forever remained true about time was it never stopped moving forward.”

Happy Thursday and from the time you started reading this to now time has passed, with my only hope is that the time kept a smile on your face during that time.

Friday February 1, 2013 and its 41.1 degrees outside and will be a full sun high if 37 degrees, huh? The chill is on the way....the Super Bowl will get the Big Easy and today we will get the big chill. However, the date provides some warmth, if not externally at least internally, as February sounds so much closer to spring than January does! Not sure we will break 50 this weekend but time does march on towards spring........

February is a sweet month after all, Valentine's Day falls within it. Famous Presidents of days gone by birthdays fall within it. As a matter of fact there were four Presidents that shared a February birthday, Washington, Lincoln, Reagan, and one I better state his own name as he has the unfortunate title of the shortest Presidents reign, William Henry Harrison. He was President for exactly 1 month and passed away. On a happier note, available daylight keeps getting stretched out.

February is also a great month to take those extra long walks outside to get that heart pumping and the fresh brisk air into the lungs. Oh yea, we also get a Super Sunday in the month of February as well. So we got that going for us! For me this weekend, I am going to tackle installing more motion sensing lights up around the outside of the home. That is about all that is on the schedule but other items tend to infiltrate the schedule and get tacked on!

Quote of the day from William Henry Harrison:

" The only legitimate right to govern is a express grant of power from the governed."

Happy Friday and his reign as President was short but his words above shall live in infamy, we we let them! Have a great February weekend!

February 4, 2013 and its 26.8 degrees outside heading on up to 48 party sunny degrees. We'll take it! Another weekend in the books and not just any weekend....it was Super Bowl weekend. The hype meter was pegging by 8AM ET. The only thing that would of added any more drama to the hype would be a power outage.......wait.....OMGoodness it had one! Gosh the NFL thinks of everything when they script these Super Bowls!

A blowout in the making that seen TV's switching over to the Puppy Bowl and anything else that was on after the second half 108 yard run back. The blowout was nearly complete......until the lights went out. I was one that switched off the game after the run back to watch a fishing show on the OC channel, Kayak Bass fishing or something like that. Only to be texted that I had to switch over to the Super Bowl because the lights went out and it brought me back and kept me there. I needed to see if the lights went out again, or would there be a fight in the stands as their was a fight between the teams early in the game. Than through the hype of the day the 49'ers started their track back. The unbelievable was becoming believable. Could it happen? Could it be another Al Michael's calling the Olympic Hockey game..."Do you believe in miricles?", moment......but not this day, not this Super Bowl, the 49'ers became the 46'ers! 3 points short and the game came down to the last play of the game! Oh my!

My only wish is the Super Bowl advertisers could have been as cleaver as the NFL Super Bowl script writers! Than it would of surely been a Super Sunday of a day!

Other than the Super Bowl hype, I did manage to get all the motion lights up and working on Saturday. They do go on and off on a specified interval unlike the Super Bowl lights. AS my lights flip on with motion so went the weekend, it flipped on with the sunrise of a Saturday morning and set in the Super Bowl glow of a Sunday night!

Tuesday February 5, 2013 and its 39.1 degrees outside leaping on up to 59 seasonable degrees. Nice! Speaking of nice when one looks back in history on this day it sees a whole host of cool things happened on this day. Just to name a few, U.S. Banks went bankrupt in 1931, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered in 1938, Barbie was introduced to the world in 1959 on this day, the first ever winter Olympics in upstate NY began in 1932, in 1964 Smith-Corona portable typewriters went on sale, in 1974 Patricia Hearst was kidnapped by the S.L.A. in California, in 1997 a Civil Panel found O.J Simpson guilty of killing two people, and on this day in 2004 FACEBOOK was introduced......and as they say the rest is history!

Oh yea just for good measure in 1922 Lincoln bought the Ford motor company for $8 million dollars and decide to name Henry Ford as President of Lincoln. Wise move.

That is a lot of neat history on this day over the years. For me I can't remember a single important event over the year on this day, and other than the last few above they were all before my time. So mine for this day is simply to wish everyone a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous February 4th complete with smiles, hope, and faith!!

Quote of the day from C. L. Lewis:

“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”

Happy Tuesday and Happy this day in history! Oh yea in case your still trying to name all 7 dwarfs: Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, and Bless you....Sneezy!

Friday February 8, 2013 and its a cloudy 43.3 degrees heading on up to a cloudy 55 degrees. Hard to believe its Friday already. Had a three day meeting that took the better part of this week. Glad that it is over!

Speaking of over, that is our rain here in the south. Just cranking up is where the clear rain drop turns to bright white snow flake, namely the northeast. Growing up in the northeast and reflecting back to when I was a kid helped me remember what today would of been like with the pending forecast. All of us kids would have our minds on the pending blizzard forecast and not to much on the lessons of the day. As a kid when we heard blizzard it meant one thing......FUN!

It meant shoveling snow to get 50 cents or maybe if we were lucky a dollar. It meant slip, sliding down the hills in the neighborhood and if it really snowed it meant sliding down the concrete steps in the center of the old abandoned park. After a few dry runs the snow would be well packed between the steps to make a snow flat surface so the plastic sheets and cardboard sleighs would accelerate all the way to the bottom. Those steps use to attract a lot of the neighborhood kids. Countless time up and down the snow covered steps, laughing and falling off the plastic and cardboard. The kids in the neighborhood that had more than we did always came with real plastic and metal disk and sleighs. We had just as much fun on our plastic sheets and cardboard.

The steps we would slide down would end at a wall that split the staircase. They were really cool steps that old park had. The steps were concrete and stone made by the W.P.A. during the depression. If it was not for the new apartment building they built on that old abondoned park those steps would still be there. In fact on both sides of the park the staircases that traverse the old park are still there according to Goggle Maps. That park was right on the side of a hill. Anyway back to the staircase. When one came down the stairs they could either go left or right to traverse the final sets of stairs onto the sidewalk. So we would pile snow up against the wall at the bottom and taper the snow so one could take a sharp turn and head down one of the staircases to the bottom. There were times when the turn was not make and wham, into the wall one went. Hours and hours were spent going up and down those steps. Most of the time it was frozen fingers and toes that ended the fun. This sliding was especially fun in the dark. The only light would be moonlight or the street light at the bottom on the steeps on the main street. Of coarse when I say night I mean anytime after 5PM when it would be dark in the winter time in the northeast.

To all those in the blizzard zone or near the blizzard zone, E-N-J-O-Y it, that means you too Mom and Dad's!!!!!

Quote of the day from Kin Hubbard:

"Fun is like life insurance; the older you get, the more it cost."

Monday February 11, 2013 and its a wet 47.1 degrees outside heading on up to a party sunny 55 degrees. Drive in was complete with a light rain on the windshield. Was a busy weekend and anyone that tore up old tile can appreciate how hard it is.

I got about half of the area ripped up. Right down to the wood floor sheathing. This tile is over a 3/4 inch like concrete base and below that is wire mesh. So on the floor I had to get below the mesh and bust up the concrete like base and pop up the tiles. Three words I can type on here without being censored....Messy, Messy, Messy! But making progress, the demolition will continue in the evening hours after work. After the floor I just have the shower area to do. The walls are easy its the floor that will be the royal pain in the grout, sort of speaking!

My plan is to have the bathroom complete by end of February. But as they say wise men do the work and foolish men make the plans! So we will see.....

Quote of the day from Dwight David Eisenhower:

"A sense of humor is part of the art of leadership, of getting along with people, of getting things done."

Happy Monday and may you get all the things done you need today, plan or not!
