I have noticed that in his 2 and a half years in office Obama has not visited Alabama except the Gulf last year because of the Oil Spill.

Why hasn't he visited Alabama for?

I don't think that he will campaign in Alabama because he has no chance winning the state. What do you people think?

Because he has no chance of winning here and on the other hand our senators rip into him every time they get in front of a microphone. He spent a considerable amount of time in Alabama before he was elected president, you know trying to use Selma and Birmingham to gin up the black and liberal voters. We haven't seen him since neither has Georgia, Miss, Louisiana or many other southern states. I don't blame him, it's just a waste the time.

Despite the animosity (even hatred) shown to Obama by many Alabama politicians and citizens, he did get a boost from the state when he won the Democratic primary in 2008.

But now he has the nomination for 2012 sewed up, so the President would do much better spending his efforts on the swing states he needs to win re-election (Ohio, Pennsylvania, etc.). Why should he waste any time, effort, or money on Alabama?

That's because white democrats in Alabama are a rare breed nowadays.

It really disturbs me when someone says they "HATE" obama.....

We, hate his policies...not him....I've never meet him....so how can I hate him?

I believe people need to be able to distinguish this.....as this would be the true for 99% of Americans who are referred to as obama haters.....

His campaign funds would be better spent elsewhere. I know people at home that still believe he's not a citizen, so it's just pointless.

If only people would see that Sessions and Shelby are just . . . I don't want to say morons, but they just don't serve a clear majority of residents.

pennquaker - Senator Sessions won in 2008 with 63% of the vote, Senator Shelby won in 2010 with 65% of the vote. It should be clear even to you that our Senators serve a clear majority of the citizens of Alabama.

Shelby can go. He's a big spender just like Obama. For that matter I'm looking forward to giving Mo Brooks the boot too. He's compromised plenty already.

We have our political differences. But I think that you think I'm stupid.

I didn't say this is my other post, because I don't want to insult anyone. However, has a LOT of rather uneducated people. There are some people, Democrat and Republican, that vote without knowing anything about the candidates. Or they vote for so and so because they're a good ole Christian. I call that stupid. For the record, I believe in God and I'm TOTALLY down with Jesus, but God also gave me a brain, and I'd like to think that I'd be insulting him if I didn't put it to good use.

But the fact of the matter is, Sessions and Shelby essentially serve the white wealthy people of Alabama - that's it. They don't care about the poor or middle class, and quite frankly, Sessions is a bigot.
