Places like Mississippi and Alabama are the last defense we have to morality.

People in the South have been raised to be polite (to people's faces) no matter what. Sasha Baron Cohen said that's why most of Borat was set there. It made a nice contrast.

Most people in AL and MS believe in minding their own business with strangers. Live and let live. You do your thing, I do mine. I don't know what Comedy Central thought, that people would start beating them up or something?

The parameters for discussion are all messed up though. They talk about "gay marriage" as something that can be legalized or outlawed. To ask the question, "do you believe that gay marriage should be legal?" implies that "gay marriage" exists. The question is not whether something should be legal or illegal. The question is, who gets to define marriage? Does government get to define marriage, or someone or something else?

I don't understand why so many people in this country think that government has the authority to define such an important human institution as marriage. I don't understand why so many people think that government is even competent enough to do such a thing.

Yes like Duck Dynasty and killing God's personally made creatures out of pure sport! Morals yay!

I'm glad to see nothing happened, but strange to see them film in 5 points and not smaller towns.

Your statement shows that you don't watch or understand Duck Dynasty.

Because being gay makes one a minority, thus a class protected by the government.

I do and I do. Love the show. Nothing moral about it.

By that definition, murderers and rapists should be protected by the government too. What about pedophiles? Polygamists? People who practice bestiality? Hey, they're just lifestyle choices, right?

I'm not saying that the government gets to decide what happens in two consenting adults' bedroom, but the issue of the definition of marriage is quite another issue, and it is NOT the government's to define.
