i would like to hear from anyone here who has lived in both AK and CO. and if so, compare.pros and cons of one over the other?

All I can say is that I have been in Colorado Springs in January and it was 50 degrees, no snow, and it was mostly yellow and beige-the grass and the buildings. I was pretty surprised at how drab it looked. This was during a really bad cold snap in Alaska and I flew back to enjoy -30 in Anchorage and -60 in Fairbanks. It is true that you probably won't be halibut fishing every day-I have never been halibut fishing-but seeing moose and Alaskan scenery is an everyday occurance.

yeah..its definitely not as scenic and majestic, but in terms of scenery it sure would be an upgrade from TX. plus i do love to ski and snowmachine, which is something i would be able to do there. it wouldnt be AK but maybe it would be "enough". the main thing is the place i really really want to work at badly is there. i would just hate to move there and then regret not choosing AK..but job-wise, i would definitely be much happier, than the jobs i would be doing in AK

If you like both places, I would say go for the job you want. You will probably spend more time at work than you will on a snowmachine, either way.

True, and you'd be that much closer to Alaska living in Colorado, making any future plans more affordable. A good job is important! I really have not been around Colorado enough, I'm sure parts of it are amazing.

well, yeah the airfares would be a bit cheaper to AK for halibut fishing trips in the summer.
good job would be in CO and AK...i would not be losing anything-i would be making what i make now, but with cost of living adjustments (i get almost 11% more in AK than i do here in TX, automatically).
i think i would be ok with that part of CO where the job is, it aint no Aspen/Vail aka Hollywood area

gut feeling-its a toss-the job in CO for sure the best choice job-wise, the lifestyle/surroundings in AK the best choice.
