We eat the very best food every night! We all love to cook!! I made a lazagna once in Point Hope (chuckle) it cost me over $200 bucks! I'm 1/2 Italian - My mom is 100% Italian! She taught me lots. We use Crushed tomatoes in our chili- but in Point Hope all soups or stews or such all have seal oil as an extra ingredient!!

I'm kind of sad. I had a wonderful recipe for herb cheese bread, but the book was lost in my move here. Does anyone have a yummy recipe to share?

Has anyone ever baked bread on top of a woodburning stove, like in a cast iron dutchoven, I do my no-knead in that in the oven, but have never done actual bread on the woodstove, though have done biscuits on over a fire...

not on top of the wood stove but in the coals....hmmm not sure on top of a stove would bake to good...I let the coals get down to a certain level, shovel out a half a hod full and then place the cast iron dutchoven in the coals dump the rest of the coals in the hod over the top an around the oven....just like you'd do on a campfire...

I used a woodstove a lot in Point Hope & in Glennallen but I've never tried using it to cook on. The only thing on top of my wood stove was potpouri!!
