My New Years Resolution was to dump cable and I did. It was just pissing me off to see how much it kept going up and I don't watch much TV anyway.

My son wasn't too happy but he'll get over it.

Bought a 10 dollar antenna and get five channels which is more than we used to get when I was a kid. When we lived in ME we pulled in one channel which forced us to go outside and find things to do. The horror.

Redjacket - Can you tell my kids there is such a thing as "outdoors"?

I don't remember spending anytime at all inside growing up. I remember being upset on Sundays, because we all had to wait until 10am before we could go outside and play.

Yea we used to get several channels with the rabbit ears but where we live now, we don't even get one. I could get Dish but that would require $500 worth of poles to put the two dishes on. I'm not forking out $500 for tv.

Have you tried Direct TV? All they wanted was a $200 deposit, which is bad enough...

I watch everything online and my current provider (not in AK just yet) offers basic cable when you get their highest speed internet. Don't really watch it much though since everything I really care to see is available online either streaming or downloadable.

Sorry for going OT

Yep I tried everyone. I live right on the Tanana, right at the base of a big hill (not allowed to call it a mountain) in a dead zone. I think Direct is one of the ones that said they can't service this area.
