Thanks Starlite I googled some pics and have now learned that the younger eagles can look pretty speckled like the one I saw for the first few years, I guess. Interesting. I wouldn't have occasion to learn this stuff unless I was here .

okay Rance...how'd ya do that one??? anyone else notice in the picture that Rance is writing his name that he is a ghost image??? you can see the tree's and lake through him!!!

That isn't a field, it is tidal flats, you can see the ice in the background in the Inlet.

That is where the tide comes in to on the higher tides of the year, the tides run in the 30+- foot level twice a day. The boat no longer floats, but it floated when it was put there years ago.

It is a real pain when you are tied to the dock on pilings accross the inlet in Anchorage, the lines are always needing attention because of the rising and falling of the ship in the water.

my first time seeing a Golden Eagle up close and what a sight!!! Fabulous shot!!! I had no idea that the color was so gorgeous!! Thanks for the picture!!

I check the progress of this from time to time also. I cannot imagine...once the trail is made, they still have to haul whatever else on it. If the whales were 300 miles away, they don't have so much time left...then more work and extremes.
