That is just a portion of the east end of Skilak Lake in southcentral Alaska.

Can anyone see the green northern lights in this shot? My monitor is so dark. Taken this am looking toward Anchorage, thus the orange glow of lights.

Beautiful shot Rance and yes I can see a bit of the green northern lights on my monitor. Can see better when I take the photo into PS Lightroom!!
Isn't Ikea and awesome place??!!! lets email tag team the headquarters for a store/restaurant in Anchorage or better yet the Kenai!!!!

sweet photo Rance!!! do you have problems with the oil in your camera shutter at that cold a temp?? I know someone who shoots in the Antarctic and he had to have his camera cleaned "dry" so it would work in subzero temps.
How often to you see the lights in Sterling??? we are hoping that when we get to Kenai that we see them there.

Every winter they can be seen here. Activity was "low" this morning. Might be good this coming Thursday when activity is forecasted at at "moderate".

I'm using a digital camera so oil isn't an issue. My battery getting cold, or my fingers at 20 below is tho!
