A fresh start for a popular thread. Keep in mind the original is still viewable. Enjoy...

Cool, a nice fresh start. Hopefully we'll have no trouble makers this round. Good morning everyone.

So it has warmed up to a balmy 11 below here in Kuparuk. It's like t-shirt weather this morning! And it's clear skies. I think there may be a tinge of color on the horizon now, so the sun should be breaking the horizon in the not to distant future.

It warmed up to 24 in the past few days. We had a high of 33 yesterday and freezing rain. We have another storm coming, should get around 3-6 inches of fresh snow. Just in time for the K-300 sled dog race. Its a bit warm for dogs though, we'll see how that plays out this year.

Cobolt, have you decided on how you are coming up this year? There is a class here at the college that I'm thinking about joining, its a 21 day trip to England/Europe in May. It is a three credit class, looking into it now.

Hey Warpt! Nah, I'm still on the fence! I can't decide if I want to ferry the inside passage or fly into ANC and drive. On the one hand I figure since I'm close to the ferry and it's an experience, (I'm sure Xa'at will back me up on that!) then why not? I can fly into ANC any old time and I really want to explore the SE communities outside of JNU. On the other hand, I want to see the rest too!!! It's sooooo hard when you have all these choices! I also thought about doing Glacier National Park in Montana and then driving up the
Icefields Parkway for a spell instead of making it up to AK...So much to think about!!! Decisions.
England in May is great! I took summer courses at Cambridge when I was majoring in Shakespearean studies. Although I was living on the campus, when the weekends came around or we had an early release day, I'd catch the train either into London or the neighboring towns: Elly, Lincoln, etc. Really nice. I never got to the SE shore like I wanted, but it was nice....the weather in the summer is alot like SE AK....rainy and foggy some days, beautiful others..probably more sunny days in England though....you'll love it. I say go for it!

Number one sin of photography: Do not leave camera at home. I carry a small Olympus 3.2 all the time, fits perfectly in my pocket and it takes a licking and keeps on flashing. I bring the Canon or Fuji when I'm on missions.

Yea...the sun has been making rare appearances and I carry my camera with me...yesterday morn it was clear and cool...we had a nice little inversion, so there was frost on the grass and fog hanging overhead with moutains peeking out. You need a camera...never know what you'll run into.
Warpt... I am also thinking of SE AK vice doing the interior thing because I might be moving back east, so I figure I might as well do the ferry while I am close...If I move back east, I can always fly into ANC but the ferry would be more of a pain. I don't know right now... still trying to figure it out.
What class will you be taking in England?
