Is the nearby town/community the village of Ballston Spa, which is only about 10-15 minutes away?

It is a growing county that can be more high end in select areas in/around the city.

The thing with housing in N.Y. is that Upstate NY is more affordable, with it being more so the further west, give or take. Areas like Utica and Binghamton can be on par with similar areas in the South and Midwest, for example.

It is much smaller than Austin(only about 25,000 or so in the city of Saratoga Springs). So, I can see how that is his sentiments about the city/area.

Stillwater.

Austin has a lot going on for any sized city. It is one of the better ones. Austin has a very young population. Plus, they enjoy substantially better weather. However in Saratoga - so far, he no longer pines for Austin. I am looking forward to visiting in the spring.

Occupancy nears for high-end Adelphi residences: https://www.timesunion.com/business/...ly%20headlines

"Apartments at The Residences at the Adelphi Hotel on Broadway will be ready for first occupancy in March, the condominium developers said this week.

The 79 homes range from 800 square feet to more than 2,500 square feet of interior living space, according to a news release Wednesday detailing aspects of the $75 million expansion and redevelopment of the hotel first opened in 1877.

The residences are studio, one-, two-, three-bedroom and duplex penthouse condominiums priced from $800,000 to $4 million. Many of the apartments come with outdoor living space and overlook a courtyard garden or views of Broadway, developers said.

Residents may enter the building through the main entrance on Broadway or through a private residents-only entrance on Washington Street, according to the news release. They have access to their own underground parking garage in the building. Shared amenities with the hotel include a spa, salon, gym, game room, card room, and business center along with two restaurants: Morrissey’s and Salt & Char.

Developers and co-owners are Michael Dubb, founder and CEO of Beechwood Organization, and businessman Larry Roth.

The building is expected to be fully completed in late 2024. See more at www.adelphiresidences.com. "

Get your spoons and stomachs ready: 25th annual Saratoga Chowderfest is on the way: https://www.saratogian.com/2024/02/0...tent=automated

"One of the area’s most anticipated events is quickly approaching, with the 25th annual Saratoga Chowderfest taking place this Saturday, Feb. 10th.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., thousands of people will flock to downtown Saratoga for the chance to sample a variety of samples from more than 80 vendors.

Discover Saratoga President Darryl Leggieri shared that since the event started 25 years ago around 1.8 million bowls of chowder have been served to the nearly half a million people who have attended the event throughout its duration. Such a feat deems celebration, and Leggieri has shared some special things that will be happening to honor such a big anniversary.

One of these things is the Saratoga Hidden Horseshoes organization will hide 100 horseshoes around downtown Saratoga Springs so people can search for them and have a great memento to take home. Also, Dance Fire Studios dancers will perform pop-up dances, similar to a flash mob according to Leggieri, throughout the event to help encourage the fun and festive atmosphere.

“Chowderfest creates an economic windfall for most of the small businesses for the small businesses that are participating as well as everyone else in town,” Leggieri said. “It’s a great opportunity for people to come out and connect with their families, connect with their friends, and just take in a good vibe.

“We’ve all been cooped up a little bit during the winter and it’s a great opportunity to get out and just be outside, get some fresh air and have some amazing chowder.”

Last year, 112,000 cups of chowder were sold to the 40,000 people who attended the event, and with this year being the 25th anniversary it is only expected to be bigger. When asked what his advice for first-time attendees, Leggieri said to remember your singles and sample as many samples as you can.

Visitors can purchase samples from any of the vendors for $2 as well as have the opportunity to votes on their favorite bowls of chowder throughout the day, with the ballot being available at www.discoversaratoga.com and open from when the event starts at 11 a.m. until 5 p.m."

Saratoga Springs property sold for planned condo, apartment project: https://www.bizjournals.com/albany/n...ate=2024-03-27

"A property at 182 Excelsior Ave. in Saratoga Springs, planned for a 42-unit apartment and condo project, sold earlier this month for $1.35 million.

182 Excelsior Ave Property Owner LLC bought the 2.5-acre property at the corner of Excelsior Avenue and Excelsior Spring Avenue on March 5, according to a deed filed in Saratoga County. The seller was Louisiana Management Company LLC.

The buyer's LLC is connected to brothers Brian and Gregory Green, who plan to build 36 new apartments and convert a 19th century home and carriage house on the property into six condos along the underdeveloped stretch of Excelsior Avenue.

Plans include constructing three buildings with 12 units each. The home and carriage house would be developed into six condos. The property will be subdivided into two parcels. In all, the property would have 42 units on site.

It would be the first ground-up construction project for the brothers' real estate and property management firm, Green Springs Capital Group, which owns around 150 apartment units in Saratoga County.

Brian Green started the business eight years ago with a single apartment building. Over time, Gregory joined Green Springs Capital Group, and the brothers purchased and renovated apartment buildings throughout Saratoga County.

Today, they own and manage 15 properties. Moving into ground-up construction is the next stage for their business.

It's not clear when construction at 182 Excelsior will start. The Greens did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Brian Green previously told the Business Review that in the spring of 2022 they saw the listing for 182 Excelsior Ave., which was advertised as a knock-down development project. The property is next to a VFW post. It's down the street from other major development projects, including the Excelsior Park Apartments, Empire Run, and the Hamlet at Saratoga Springs and Fresh Market Plaza.

After the Greens' initial interest in the property, they discovered the 1869 home was part of one of Saratoga's first luxury developments. They worked with the city and the local preservation foundation to find a way to save the old structures.

The project involves moving the home, along with the carriage house, closer to the street. The apartments will be built behind the home."
