It is finally official as of today. 3 candidates will face off for the biggest position of the biggest city in New Mexico.

So with that being said, who will you support come election day.

- Incumbent Martin Joseph Chavez (Democrat)
- Richard Romero (Democrat)
- State Representative Richard "Rj" Berry (Republican)

If Mayor Chavez were to win again it would be his 4th term as mayor of Albuquerque.
He would be tied with Clyde Tingley as one of the longest serving Albuquerque mayors.
Albuquerque has no term limits for the position of mayor.

Do you want only those who can legally vote to answer the poll?

Or do you want anyone to take the poll?

C'mon Rich. It's New Mexico. Come election day, some of us from outside Albuquerque will mosey on down for a nice lunch, a little gambling, and to cast a vote in an election we're not even supposed to vote in. I think we should be able to vote in the poll too.

I only ask because it has come up in the past. Just wanted to add a sense of legitimacy to it.

This election is nonpartisan and party affiliation will not on the ballot.

I like Chavez, I even got a picture of him last week at founders day:

I have to think about this some more....

I voted for Marty as I support Mr. Chavez's commitment to, and his ongoing programs, in:

1) welcoming entrepreneurs to Albuquerque; and 2) redevelopment of the rt. 66 corridor 3) sustainability and making ABQ increasingly bike friendly, etc. etc.

I think his programs for improving the parks (although I'm not sure about fiscal responsibility of the Tingley Beach project) will stimulate the construction industry, and continue to help Albuquerque ride out the recession.

I do not think it is a good idea to change mayors in the middle of a recession, given that the current Mayor has a very pro-business, pro-entrepreneur agenda.

Heck it appears we are still registered in NM and we have been gone a year plus have voted in AR. I guess I should be able to cast a vote. Of course we didn't live in ABQ..
