Well, the first is laid out more like a traditional detached, or in this case semi-detached house, with just two levels and the other is a more typical, narrow layout town home with upwards of four levels of stairs to climb. Of course how the overall location ticks your wants should be most important but I would think that how you feel about stair climbing would come into play here.

On purely aesthetics I much prefer the 2nd, more traditional townhouse but that's just me.

Aesthetically, the second one is more grand, elegant, luxurious, a imposing.

Sorry if I was unclear on my OP, but for comparison, I posted two random photos of two different STYLE townhouses. A few posters have preferred one over the other for being more grand or elegant. I am not comparing these two townhouses specifically, Rather the STYLE of each house. For a more equal comparison to the second mor grandeur, elegant townhome, here is a more grand townhouse of the first style for comparison.

Not really concerned about floor plan, just doing a little survey on which STYLE townhouse people most prefer.

As a real estate agent, which style have you found buyers like most, is more in demand, more expensive, easier to sell, etc.

As a consumer, the second style is much more handsome and balanced. This one looks inviting and homey, not off putting like the first one.

The first style has a much too prominent garage door that is out of proportion to the house. It also has two very steeply pointed gables which do not harmonize with the rest of the design and distract the eye. None of it seems to go together, it seems to be randomly cobbled together.

Okay, now compare the the second style townhouse house to the townhouse house in post #6 and opinion.
