Health question for AZ residents (Yuma: allergies, living, eat)

I will be in Yuma for the month of July working in the Yuma Proving Grounds. I was there in Dec for ten days and I was never so dried out in my life. I live on the east coast so living with humidity is the norm. Will bringing some Saline Moisturizing nose spray help? My sinuses stayed dried out the entire time. Drinking wanter is not a problem although when working it sometimes takes me a little while before I can get to the water. Any other suggestions?

Please accept my thoughts and prayers....a month in Yuma is a hardship that I wish you could avoid....a week (anything over a day, really) in Yuma is horrendous, so I can't imagine all of July. I would just say bring water with you and drink it throughput the day. Freeze some so you will always have it cold as it melts. Eat fruits and watermelon. Lotion only handles the surface; you need to hydrate from inside.

You could use a netti pot for your sinuses if you can figure out how to use the thing. It's a bit tricky, but helps with sinuses/allergies in particular. They sell them at Walgreens. But, other than that hydrate a lot!

You can also get a cool air humidifier. I've not used them myself, but they've helped others.

Lubricating eye drops can come in handy, too. Not Visine "get the red out," but artificial tears.

You will be relieved to know that Yuma has both heat AND humidity in July. Dewpoints are frequently in the 70s as low level moisture is drawn north from the Gulf of California.

I was kind of looking forward to the low humidity. I get real tired of our humidity here in the summer in Va. Thanks for the replies all.

According to this the avg in July ranges from the 20's to 49 % humidity. I can handle that compared to our 75-100 % in Va.

OK, but it is not 120 in VA either. You need to experience it to believe it! As to what you can do about your nose, what works for me is triple antibiotic ointment from Walmart. Vaseline might be just as good. Put a little in each nostril every other day or so. The saline spray is pretty worthless.

I'm aware of the temps in AZ but it's the dryness that got me last time. We do see some hot days in VA along with some awful humidity. We even hit a few days this past week where we were at 98-99 with a 106 heat index. Add the humidity and it can be horrible. I can handle the heat while there. It's the humidity that gets me.
