Ok, I have been seeing this big HUGE yellow black hairy bees.
They have no wings, and they walk along the ground, and live underground. Kinda neat to look at.

On of my neighbors told me they were poisonous. I am looking it up and finding NOTHING on these things. Any ideas? I thought digger bee, but diggers have wings. These do not.

Uh... I've never seen bees without wings. Kinda defeats the purpose of being a bee I think... Gotta climb them flowers to feed on em. I'm guessing they are some other kind of bug.

There are some wingless wasps out there (wasps are more closely related to ants, and they do burrow). If it is a wasp, then it will have a nasty sting. I'm guessing you saw what is often called a "velvet ant" or Mutillidae. See:

Could be a bee that some kids tortured. When I was a kid I used to tear the wings off of flies and let them walk around all day. I was a sick puppy!

No I see these every year here. The neighbors said they started in Eloy and now they are in AZ city. If I see one again I will get a photo as they do not seem to exist anywhere on the net. Maybe we have a new species, lol

They are very fat and round and top heavy. They are hard to kill when you step on them, very hard outer body. They wander the ground I think to start new nests this time of year. I see about 5 or six this time of year every year.

Maybe it's a jerusalem cricket (a.k.a "potato bug")? They aren't exactly very hairy, but they do look like large bees that burrow. See the first picture in the following link:

If your neighbor knows they are poisonous, they must know what they are.
